Default Awaken the giant: What can the Playstation 3 really do?

Quote:
The Playstation 3 has been around for well over two years now and has definately found its stride in the gaming world. With some serious competition (Xbox 360 and...er..Wii), the gaming market is stronger than ever. Some of the greatest games ever created such as Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance 2, Resident Evil 5, Warhawk, Burnout Paradise and countless others have helped to drive the Playstation 3 to super stardom.

a Grammy? doubt it...he has a few punctuation and grammar mistakes here and there =P

Article wasn't bad, but of course it is still biased.
The Xbox360 has a good lineup of exclusive games, and of course, multiplatform games are shared across the Xbox as well...often with the Xbox version being superior to the PS3 version.

Dumbest thing in the article: "Some of the best games in the world were introduced on the Playstation platform." That line is major BS. The games considered the biggest classics were Mario, Tetris, and Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

I thought the biggest selling point of the PS3 to me was the blu-ray player and the built in wireless.

It says "Some of the best games" not "All of the best games"

Yeah, a ton of the best actually. Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider, Gran Turismo, Wipeout, Ridge Racer, Metal Gear Solid (the modern ones at least), Guitar Hero, Grand Theft Auto, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Ico/Shadow of the Colossus... I could keep going and going.

What has Xbox contributed? The most overrated game of all time? Halo. Not that it isn't good, but it's not hard to make a good FPS. And thats all Halo is, a good FPS.

You're quoting old news.

The 360 has had a strong exclusive lineup in previous years. But in new and upcoming titles this year, it has a weak lineup compared to the PS3's.

And early multiplatform titles were often better on the Xbox in previous years, but now it's turned around the other way, and PS3 versions are commonly superior now.

MP games are the same. I don't think anyone would deny that Zelda/Mario are big franchises, but you are denying that PS hasn't popularised any franchises which is not true.

The article is fine - obviously biased, but it doesn't "lie" or anything.

The only thing I wouldn't count as a major selling point is the PSEye. Sony has does little/nothing to support it in the last year. So far, I feel largely that it was a waste of $40 since I have almost no content available.

Resident Evil is still on PlayStation so how have they "lost" it? Yes, it's not exclusive anymore, but the game is still available for people to play...

Great another thread thats turned into a which one is better topic.

I own all 3 and the only one that collects dust is the Wii. They all have good and bad points. The one good thing is all the competition it has generated. That is great for us the cunsumer.

too bad madden has the nfl license. that game sucks.
2k was always better and 2k5 was the pinncale of football gaming until madden "bought out" the competetion(bought the nfl license)

but back on topic. this was a good article. he stresses the "good" exclusives the ps3 had and has coming out.

i HAD a 360 and sold it as there werent any games i played for 360 (apf & rsv20 that i couldnt play on p3

PLUS ps3 had mgs4, gran tourismo & a blu ray plater.

a ps3 is a MANS machine. the 360/wii are for kiddies/teenagers.

LONG LIVE NFL 2k5!!!

Well here on bluray.com its a safe bet the PS3 is the best. I once owned all 3 consoles too. There isn't any one title I want to play on the other consoles for the upcoming months. PS3 already has KZ2 coming out this week, and LBP I can play with my son forever.

The other consoles do have good and bad points, but I see no negatives with the PS3

OMG price price price!!! That is until you add up all the accessories you need for both other systems and it can easily top $500 in the end for both, but shhh. that a secret.

Correct, 360 is actually more expensive if you play online (despite the PS3 offering a far superior online gaming experience).

PS3's exclusive line up is hands down king.

As for MP games, well that is a mixed bag, some better on the 360, some on the PS3.

Yeah I have no problem with the price of PS3. Its exclusive games are the best, its a bluray player, the remote function with PSP is awesome, and online gaming is a free service.

I have more controllers than games for the Wii which is ridiculous and I figure the 360 is so cheap because you have to buy more than one a year when they crap out on you.

Yeah newsflash! The Resident Evil series has not been Playstation exclusive since they put Resident Evil 2 on N64.

Indeed, but it is still a PS franchise as it was introduced on PSX and premièred on PS systems until RE4 (which got a GCN release timed exclusive) and now it is back to PS systems multi-plat.

Anyway, I personally don't consider RE4/5 to be Resident Evil games, they are just "Generic Zombie Action Game 4/5" with bad controls. Once they made RE into an action series rather than survival horror it didn't matter that it wasn't exclusive.
