Default Eproductwars Top Ten is 100 point different from HDgameDB.com

I just noticed a 100 point difference in the top ten amazon.com sales rank. Who is right? If they are pulling their data from the same place, why are their numbers wildly different for HD DVD now? The Blu-ray numbers are the same. Check out eproductwars.com/dvd and then check out hdgamedb.com (go to the historical graph for the top ten today).

Ascended, I've found Eproduct wars consistently wrong (not to mention that their unmoderated forum is a joke and rife with HD-DUD FUD), and HDgamedb.com more accurate and up to date.

Others may disagree, but that's my personal experience.

Yeah, I never go in forum area anymore. But, I have never seen the two sites off by much before...let alone a 100 point difference.

Noticed Hdgamedb doesn't list Digital Video Essentials for HD DVD. What's happening to the graph for HD DVD? I had to scroll down to see the end of it. Are they gearing up for another one of their wimpythons?

I'd also love to point out the fact that HD-DVD has been steadily falling since it's apparent 'BUY DAY'. Doesn't seem to me, overall, that this had any affect except an EXTREMELY brief spike past Blu-ray.

Details below:

Salesrank of top 10 products:

http://www.eproductwars.com/dvd/

Salesrank of top 25 products:

Salesrank of top 100 products:

[EDIT] Of course this information being from 1 online site only. It doesn't necessarily reflect the actual progress of BD or fallback of HD-DUD. One can only assume, and hope this would be the same result elsewhere.

Also, the "BUY DAY" actually raised BD's rankings. I take both of these sites w/ a grain of salt, but right now DVE for HD-DVD is listed as #469 overall, so HDgamedb has some problem. I've noticed quite a bit, though, that epro. has been off. Last week for almost a day they had two BD titles in the top 100 overall, but on the graph "number of titles in top 100," they only counted one.

Still you can look at the general trends.

Also, the disparity in rankings for Letters from Iwo Jima is hilarious:
BD - 168
HD - 558

The HD-DUD graph looks more like design plans for a roller coaster.

That makes me ask another question. Is it not listed because the sales ranking shown fro that title on eproductwars.com is not accurate, or because hdgamedb.com just happen to forget to list a top ten title? It is interesting to think about.

You're quite welcome.

I really like the sales spike from their "buyathon"... helps give that downward slope more of that "WWWeeeeeeeeeeeee!" factor

by looking at the charts, it appears the HD-DVD fanboys are saving up for their next 'buy-a-thon'..

Buy-A-thons are meaningless if you were buying something anyways, and canceled to re-order on a "certain" day. Also, if you don't continue to buy then whats the point. But who can blame them? Smokin Aces, Good Shephard and Children of Men are the only things they've had worth mentioning in all of 2007. Planet Earth & Happy Feet being two of their "Big Hits" are both available on BD and as you can see, BD buyers aren't as concerned with those titles, because they/we have much more to choose from week to week.

Yep. Buy-a-thons are useless if you are buying something you were going to get anyway. That is why for the Blu-ray buy-a-thon we are asking people to buy a title that wouldn't ordinarily buy or something they are on the fence about.
