Default Sci-Fi: The Final Frontier

Has Science Fiction reached it's end? No more Mr. Spock? Yes or no? Why or why not?

Sci-Fi will always be able to grow. It is one of those genre's that can grow as long as people have an imagination.

In what way? How? Like Kubrick, you're being vague.

Battlestar Galactica had four popular seasons and is getting a spin-off. Not to mention Sarah Connor Chronicles, Doctor Who, Torchwood, and the soon-to-start Dollhouse!

I think sci-fi is slowly making a come back. At least on the TV front.

No. Because as long as there is a future to look forward to (good or bad), there will always be people trying to imagine what that future will look like (good or bad) and therefore there will be people trying to write strories set in that future(good or bad lol)

The thing about sci-fi is that as long as you can imagine it, it can happen. So you want to create a future (or an alternate universe) were people worship the Oscar Meyer Wiener-Car? Its done. Specially with todays effect technology, those visions can be brought to life. There will be bad films but with that will come good ones as well.

Someone asked me to do Sci-Fi. I didn't really want to go here. But I answer the demand. ...If asked. By the way, I didn't mean to depress you. I'd say it's Hollywood more than me. I merely have the flashlight.

Sorry though.

The Abyss (1989), Terminator 2 (1991), Titanic (1997), we'll have to wait and see.

Savior or new wave?

That is sort of my point. There are so many different ways to approach making or incorporating sci-fi elements into film. I think that the field of sci-fi is vague, in the aspect that it can be approached from so many different angles. This is a genre that not confined to a certain set of rules or guidelines.

Not too much plot has come out but the fact is that it's James Camerons return to Sci-Fi and it's shot entirely in IMAX-3D.
