Default There are too many unnecessary forums here

Seriously this site is too fragmented. Sales forum, player forum, movie, forum, software forum, games forum, general disc, off-topic, blah, blah.....

Honestly I rarely, if ever check out the sales forum, so if there's any huge deal going on for blu-ray, I have a good chance of missing it.

fragmented forums like this make the most of the boards look dull, boring. You're just not encouraging a lively message board.

Why can't we just have 2 forums? Blu-ray forums (anything blu-ray goes here) and off-topic, for other topics like politics, sports, social stories, etc. By reducing the forums to 2 makes the admin job easier, you don't have to worry about moving around topics

For a huge site, 50K + member, it makes sense to fragment the forum. But this is still a small site, it makes more sense to encourage a livelier board

i am of the belief that you plan big. you don't build a house then decide to add on a year later. a website or forum is like that. plan now, and as you grow things will already be implemented and ready for larger amounts of people.

I think it makes for more clarity like this. When I want to know something about movies I don't like to scroll through dozens of posts regarding TVs. For a quick overview you can go here and just see the latest forum posts.

And I agree, you have to build with the future in mind; after all, that's why we decided to go blu, right?

I assume you mean the site is too "fragmented", not "defragmented".

Be that as it may, the interface experts of yore have repeatedly claimed that you should not have more than five or so elements on each level (has to do with the number of independent elements the average person can see without grouping -- i.e., the average person sees 5 of anything as 5 independent objects but 6 of anything as two groups of 3 or three groups of two).

This site follows that rule.

For me that makes it easy to see what I need at the various levels.

I find all the forums easily laid out. Hot deals forum is what it is. I don't know why you would miss it. It's your fault if you don't check it.

I happen to agree with you, I think that the PS3 is sort of the elephant in the room that alot of people aren't really talking about. Perhaps if a forum were created to encourage the necessary discussions we might actually see some games coming out! 8)
Plus we might be able to convince them to back off on the price a bit 8P

I think this site for the most part is very well laid out. If you visit it often enough, there is no reason why you should have a hard time navigating it. The only people that may (or should) have a tough time browsing through the individual topics I would imagine would be the newbies. Once you get used to the breakdown of discussions, I think think most people know where to look for what they're interested in discussing.

In fact, the Blu-ray Games section is meant for PS3.

And, if you've got an alternative (for the sections), simply post them. We'd appreciate it.

Too many unnecesary forums?
Like this one?

I think the layout makes sense. You'll never make everyone happy, but ease of navigation keeps people from getting lost!
