Some big news tonight for Pokémon and 90's nostalgia fans!!!:

The bad news; none of the DVD extras are being ported over.

From the back cover it looks like it might not have the shorts... major bummer to miss out on Pikachu's Summer Vacation.

Blu-ray listing: 255 minutes
DVD set: 289 minutes

That's a damn shame I still have the old Japanese DVDs, at least they have the shorts on, and theres the novelty of seeing them how they were originally shown (They also contain the US versions as bonuses).
The shorts were part of the original theatrical presentation and should be there!

I agree, but these movies are some I fondly remember from when I was younger and heavily into pokemon, this will be a welcome addition to my collection, especially since I missed picking up the DVD's.

I only saw the first movie in theaters when I was a kid; how are the other two? I only really followed "classic Pokemon" i.e. with the 150, so I have no frame of reference for how it was after that.

2000 is pretty fun, however I had started to grow out of Pokemon by the time 3 rolled around and don't really remember much about it, other than it being weird.

I remember really liking the fist movie as a kid... but I can safely say that I've grown out of Pokemon. With that said, I wouldn't mind seeing it again. Tonally, I recall it being slightly dark, but I could be wrong.

I'm down. I dumped my 3 movie DVD version for $80 earlier this year.

I was always partial to Pikachu & Pichu, as it gave us this unforgettable image...

I cannot believe it. I am SO excited that I can barely contain myself. Viz Media finally gave us The Johto Journeys re-release after 16 years and now the first three movies after 15-16 years as well and in Blu-ray in collectible packaging like what Australia got.

This has made my Christmas. Pre-ordered immediately regardless of how awful the cover art is for the BD and DVD!!!

If there's a standalone release of the first one, I'll bite. That's the only one I ever saw and the nostalgia factor is enough for me to buy. Getting the short with it would be nice, too.

What really pisses me off is that they are not presented in their original Japanese as an option. And they also have lossy audio.

Picking this up for sure. At least for the first movie.
After the first movie I never really watched any of the anime anymore. But I still play the games. I'm hoping they release pokemon origins. That series is really good.

These movies will never get the Japanese audio, though the lossy option (unless it's a mistake) is disappointing.

The lack of bonus features and the shorts are pretty disappointing. However, being in Widescreen is a plus after Warner only released the first three in full screen.

I'm mainly buying it for Pokemon the Movie 2000. That was a great one, while the other two were just okay.

Yeah, the first movie was extremely dark compared to the later two.
[Show spoiler]It's got Pokemon beating the crap out of each other with their fists and teeth, and Ash dies for a little bit.

No extras?

Guess I'll stick with my triple-feature DVD then.

Pre-Ordered this morning, and I can't wait to relive the nostalgia. The DVD prices are astronomical, so this was a wonderful surprise. I'm typically into Special Features, but I can live without them; especially at this price, and in Steelbook packaging.

Had to check to make sure I was on the right Blu-ray.com region for a moment. I can't believe Warner Bros. finally ponied up the money to put these out on BD, totally gonna get it. They're a huge source of nostalgia for me.
