Default Mickey Rourke likely NOT In Iron Man 2 (reason: $$$)

Quote:
Mickey Rourke has told New York Magazine that it's looking like he won't be playing the villain in Iron Man 2:

But so what if ICM's David Unger doesn't look good in a dress — at least he's battling Marvel for a bigger paycheck for Rourke for his rumored role as a villain in Iron Man 2, right? "Right now, we're not doing Iron Man 2," Rourke told us grimly.
I love Rourke, don't get me wrong, but what is it about stars demanding bigger paychecks for this movie. The last one was a big moneymaker, I get that. What happened to taking a hit to do it for the fans (slight sarcasm )? No doubt his agent is trying to get some more $$$ on account of Rourke's Wrestler fame. I won't pass judgment since I don't have any idea what's going on behind the scenes; I'm just disappointed that the great lineup planned for Iron Man 2 is starting to fall apart namely because of financial reasons. That's Hollywood for you

Yea...but we have to remember that we dont know the $#s. Rourke could be asking for rediculous cabbage, or, the studios could be insultingly lowballing him. I sure dont know.

I was refering to this one.

It devolved pretty quickly into a p*ssing match re: actor's salaries in general.

without knowing details I'd be hesitant to say anything about it. I'm willing to bet Rourke has options right now, I don't blame him for trying to make some green.

yeah, thus the reason for the sarcasm note. we have no idea what's going on behind the scenes so i don't feel in a position to pass judgment. just disappointed that the great lineup planned for Iron Man 2 is starting to fall apart namely because of financial reasons.

Good for him... I'm sure Marvel is expecting > 500 million dollars in worldwide B.O. receipts. it was reported they offered Rourke like 250,000 dollars. Why should a main character and respected actor, settle for .0005 % of a movie's overall gross?

Rourke is a maniac... He had some acting (not box office sucess) with The Wrestler, and now he wants big $$$? He better wake up and take a long look in the mirror.

b/c that's a pretty descent payday for only a couple months work. esp. when he wouldn't be on set everyday of filming.

But if some of your co-workers were being payed 20-30 times more than you, I don't think you would have the same point-of-view.

I sure hope Marvel isn't gonna royal F this movie up, mostly due to money with the actors. . First one was awesome and really came outta nowhere to take everyone by surprise. However, because of that this one isn't gonna be flying under any radars and the expectations are gonna be through the roof. They better deliver.

yeah, but some of those co-workers have already proven themselves in the franchise. u can't blame marvel for wanting to save some money w/the way things are going on right now.

but i do understand where u're coming from.

It is not like Mickey is some kind of super star now. Give me a break.. ok his movie got nominated. Regardless still it is not a movie anyone went and saw. It did not even break 30m world wide. It's not like he is going to bring people to see Iron Man 2. If anything Iron Man 2 would help bring him more mainstream which is what would increase his value.
