Default 1:85:1 Blu's now have black bars???

I just popped in a few 1:85 aspect ratio movies and now it I can see thin black bars on the top and bottom of the picture. Is one of my settings screwed up??

They should have always been there. Very tiny.

No its not that I know what your thinking. Its like double or triple the size than what I am used to seeing. I popped in my videogame and the bars are gone.

Ive got a couple blus that the aspect ratio is incorrect on the back. Crank is one that comes to mind. The back says 2:35 but it has to be 1:78 or 1:85. No bars!

a 16x9 HDTV is 1:77, so a 1:85 formated film will give you black bars as its wider than your HDTV.

What type of player do you have ? I have a PS3 and one time my setting screwed up and defalted to 480p and the black bars were triple the size, just a guess.

your settings are completely fine. 1:85 has black bars, 1:77 PS3 games don't

1.85...has black bars, teeny ones a few pixels wide. Your PS3 has nothing to do with this. They've ALWAYS been there. Just use your TV's aspect ratio control if it bothers you.

That's very possible, I've had that happen and asked myself the same question.

My settings messed up because we played a playstation 2 game in the PS3. It defaulted all of my blu ray settings.
