From Twilight Time on September 19, 2017, comes John Sturges's terrific Hour of the Gun (1967). This will be a limited edition of 3000 copies.
Directed by John Sturges (The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, Bad Day at Black Rock, Ice Station Zebra, and many more); Starring James Garner, Robert Ryan, and Jason Robards. Music by Jerry Goldsmith. This is John Sturges's followup to his earlier western Gunfight at the OK Corral, although it is not a direct sequel. Whereas the first film focuses on the gunfight, Hour of the Gun starts with the gunfight and tells of the battles that followed between the Earp brothers together with their friend Doc Holiday against the Clanton Gang. Hour of the Gun, like many memorable westerns that have universal themes, is as much psychological character study as it is a guns blazing action film. Roger Ebert praised James Garner's portrayal of Wyatt Earp, calling it one of the actor's best performances. Forget the comic actor, this is James Garner like you may have never seen him. ![]() ![]() Trailer Last edited by oildude; 04-13-2018 at 07:50 AM. |

A pristine HD transfer has been making the rounds on satellite for years. I'm betting it'll be the same one on this release.

Terrible news. Got this today and it must be the same transfer as the Australian release. I'm really shocked TT would accept this transfer. Very disappointed with them. They should have taken a pass on this transfer. I've seen this movie on HDNet and, I think, on TCM in a pristine transfer. But this TT Blu-ray is just shoddy. I mean like "Wow! This is not good." Depressing.

Therefore, BEWARE of Australian Blu-rays Quality beforehand. Treacherous stuff. Furthermore, Twilight Time frequently accepts faulty Masters and release them carelessly. Last edited by EugeneFraga; 11-06-2017 at 04:09 AM. |
