Default Problem with TVersity+PS3

According to the FAQ, if I can play files in Windows Media Player Classic, then TVersity can transcode it. However I have so many HD files that plays fine in Media Player Classic but PS3 always shows "data corrupted". Does anyone know why?

There is a 2GB limit on files on the PS3 side. Also, in the PS3 settings have you enabled WMV? Settings > System Settings. Set "Enable WMA Playback" to Yes.

2GB limit for media playback on the ps3 is only for media stored on the ps3 Hard Drive. Yes I enabled WMV.

First off:
Did you install all the TVersity codecs? And ffdshow? It came with the installation so you probably did. But just in case...

You can also try installing CCCP (http://www.cccp-project.net/) I am not sure if it has more codecs than what came with TVersity. But make sure you uninstall the "TVersity Codec Pack" first before installing Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP). Double dipping codecs is bad for your computer.

Try this (with windows xp):
Go to start then "run." Type "services.msc" Scroll all the way down to the bottom where you'll find "TVersity Media Server". Right click and "Stop" Right click again and select "properties", then "log on". Unselect local system account and choose "This Account" Type in your Windows XP login name and password. You need a password and admin rights. Then Apply. Restart TVersity (if you already had it running)

This worked for most of my corrupted files, but there were still some that remained corrupted in the eyes of my PS3. Usually these were FLV files and some adult content off the internet. But thats to be expected given the crap thats floating around the P2P networks.

You can use a PS3 video converter to convert these files into a type the PS3 can read. I suggest Red Kawa's
http://www.download.com/PS3-Video-9/...html?tag=lst-1
You can then add them to your TVersity library.

Also sometimes I found that simply restarting everything, PC and PS3, solved corrupted file problems.

So I did a clean install of Tversity and ffshadow.

Now PS3 is saying cannot find my HD files on the media server.

I can play all other files fine except for a bunch of HD files.

This is so frustrating!

Done this but still facing the same "corruped file" message. This is happening to only the higher definition files (ie blue ray). Other lower quality files of the same file type (ie *.avi) are playable. Any ideas why?

I had a similar problem. Check the file size, I couldn't get anything larger than 4GB to work. I had to re-code some movies in order to get them to a smaller file size. Didn't make any diff I encoded as H264 or Xvid, if the file was greater than 4GB, it just wouldn't work.

I have some files in Media Player (although I hate windows but someone gave me a PC so it's in the basement with a couple of stuff on there.) Most of what I have on there is DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected to the point that I can't open it with anything but WMP on the PC it's installed on.

The PS3 is pretty picky about what it will and won't play too.

That said... I like PS3 Media Sever much better then TVersity since I can use it on my PC and my Macbook and it's also freeware and works great.

.

+1. I highly suggest you switch over and give PS3 Media Server a try. Since I switched over a couple of months ago, I have had no issues streaming video from my PC. The program is super easy to work with, and it's a lot easier to configure properly.

What is the file extension of the HD files you cannot see?

If you plan on having the HD video transcoded, make sure you have a fast enough CPU/system.

Actually the kings episode in HD is 5 gigs and the ps3 has no problem with that.. so your 2 gig limit is blown to small bits.
