can the PS3 read DVD-A's?

I have the friend who is willing to give me her The Beatles LOVE DVD-a, but, I don't know if the PS3 can play it. can it?

Yes and no. I always thought it did, but was told otherwise. Can't remeber exactly the reason for it, but you might find out looking in the Blu-ray Player, PS3 forums.

hm..that is odd...I posted a reply to myself saying that I found the answer in one of the sticky threads right above my question.

It doesn't read the AUDIO_TS folder, hence it can only play DVD-Video discs.

It will still read the lossy DTS and Dolby Digital surround tracks usually included on a DVD-Audio. Only DVD-Audio players can read the high-resolution tracks.
