Default I got an LD player!

I finally got a LaserDisc player!

I can't wait to get it set up and running. If anyone has some old LD's they would be willing to pass around, let me know.

Nice, oddly it looks really modern. Compare it to my Lexicon processor (well, the non-HD one) and there is definitely a neutral tones similarity.

I've still got about 250 LD's and the Pioneer 701 player. Works fine but PQ still is nowhere near SD DVD even when both are played at 480p

how old is that player? looks like one of the earlier models. I had a laserdisc player but crapped out on me so I gave all my discs to my brother, otherwise id definitely send you some classics. abyss, fx2, beetlejuice, clear and present danger, we had like 40 or so.

man, i loved laserdisc....

It's old, i'd say late 70's, early 80's. My favorite thing so far is the turtle!...lol

Christ...Dude I just thought it was the 80's again! My uncle had a player just like that one. I wish he didn't sell all the discs and everything I would send them to you. I still check with him and see if he still has some hidden in his attic somewhere.

I don't think this player is capable of playing Digital Audio. And definitely won't be capable of playing AC-3 audio. I could be wrong though.

Wonder how it opens up. Does the tray slide or it pops up? Funky.

I HATED my LD player. I had the top player never worked correctly and the disc ROT sent me back to VHS-Thanks goodness for BLU-RAY.

From the looks of it that player will only output the analog tracks on the disc. For one thing you can't be the price that you got it for (free).

I started my LD obsession with a Pioneer CLD V2600, which is pretty much a crappy industrial player (remotes were huge on this thing). I later upgraded to a CLD D504, which came with a RF demodulator for about $150 (you need this for the AC-3 RF discs, which also only carry mono analog sound). Then I bit the bullet and bought one of the best non-elite players you could get, the CLD-D704 for 200 (this thing rivals easily any DVD that I have seen).

Actually, I think that is one of the best early pioneer laserdisc players you got there (your model came out in 82). They used that model for the Dragon Lair games and all of those other LD games back in the 80's. It also has a real gas tube laser as well (which are highly desirable, KEEP IT). Try to track down some of the old Discovision discs as well (these are the very first laserdisc's to have come out in the 70's)

If you have any more questions on LD's, yet me know.
