Default digital copy code rule stinks

ive used my license key over the allowed number of times ive now got a digital copy of dark knight sat here that is dead and cant be used by myself which ive bought and paid for.Sometimes i like to just go through my favourite scenes on the computer instead of putting the blu-ray on.Who thought of this? are they mentally deranged or just having a laugh thinking about all the messages popping up on computer screens saying you cant use this anymore.I'd even have a case to download a pirate copy now and if the cops come knocking i'll say ive paid for this digital copy for my computer ive got my license code and they wont let me watch it so what do you expect. So its causing people to do exactly what its meant to stop people doing.

Im also peeved off that this devalues my limited edition batpod blu-ray as whoever buys it off you is going to want a working digital copy.Unless you sell it in 2010 when theyve all expired anyway lol

This is why they should not put Digital Copies on a disc format. They should be downloadable via studio website. Every disc is created with a quick trip to the landfill in mind! That way, you can have an account set up that will allow you permanent access to your purchased content. No need for these silly "rules" to be applied.

Speed Racer was a one-run Digital Copy.
As long as the computer stayd fine and the key was safely stored in the drive - where ever, it would play.
I test software in real time(no VMware - an actual machine).
Well, I needed to reimage the machine to get rid of all remnants of the crap program I was trying.

Took that one-use key with it!
I had the DC on a different drive.
It was intact but when I tried to play it - it asked for the code.
I enter the code - exceeded use limit.

Now I have a pretty new coaster and deleted the file.
DC should be abandoned.
Include the DVD - sure.
Make it a download from the studio - that'll work too!
Lose the POS DC!

I agree with all of you... I'm not a fan of DC's either, as I have yet to load one up on my computer, but I have feeling that by the time I get around to it, most will be expired anyway, and then I won't be able to use the content that I paid for! What a scam... charge more for the blu-ray because it comes with a DC, only to render them useless in a short while... and they want downloading to take over? Hah! Good luck with that...

I agree that there is no point in including a physical disc DC and that it should be a download, but even if they did change that they would still make it so you could only download it once. If there was unlimited downloads on a DC the disc would be passed around or sold and could hurt sales and there's no way the studios would risk that.

I sersioulsy agree wiht everyone and think that the digital copy thing wiht a code is a waist of time. For example: I have my copies on my laptop. Say in a year from now I decide to upgrade my harddrive. Well no more copy on my PC cuz you can't transfer it. I think they should..... I DON"T KNOW but I think if enough people would complain they might do something about it. Doubtfull but it's worth a try perhaps.

I pretty much hate Digital Copies.

I do use the codes and download the files but... It's all stuff I have on Blu Ray so I would never want to watch the low quality digital copy version.

I enjoy the DC very much. I installed it on my Mac and then transfered them all to my Ipods and Ipod touch. They're great for road trips and at airports.

Sorry fellas, I like digital copies. I have had no problems with them at all & they work out great on my iphone's. I have transfered them from 1 HDD to another without issue. Sure if you have no use for them or you're having problems with them, then there just crap to you, but I'd like to see them continue to be included. I agree that they don't need to include the disc, just the code. It's not about sitting on your house trying to decide if you want to watch the Blu-ray version or the Digital Copy. Its about having a copy of your films to take with you on the road. DC's are a life saver when your stuck in the airport for 12+ hours! It is dumb that the codes expire.

Digital copy would be a better entertainment investments IF it does not have its limitations. Most of my brand new digital copy is useless because the codes already expired when I bought my blu. Also, there is a limit number of times that a copy can be use I believe. Also, I have the ability to RIP the whole dvd so there is no point for me to even have digital copy. I can convert it to almost any files I want. JMO.

I had no idea that the DC discs "expire." I've only used it one time with one disc (WALL·E). So, does that mean that any others I have and don't use will "expire" and become completely useless?

Yup. You should DL them quick, or trash them if there expired...

Now I wonder if my Dark City copy expired. I don't rush to download the Windows only one since I avoid M$ but I'll have to go look into it anyway.

uh, I like the actual disc being included. It takes my computer 2 minutes to download a digital copy with the actual DC disc. But it takes over 3 hours to download a digital copy without the disc...

Disc? Download?
With the disc, you are copying it from the disc, not downloading anything
Most are ~1.6GB and portable is ~699MB.
Providing an actual DVD like Disney is starting to do makes more sense.
Digital Copies are to... volatile - fragile - prone to failure.
As ststed, once used, the DC discs are coasters or trash.

I personally like how Disney included the DVD movie of the disc. I hate digital copies because you need to use iTunes and I hate it. I would just use the and get a program that will shrink it down for a portable device.

I did this 2 one of my computers also, and when I put the DC back it didn't use another one of my 5 authorization. It used the same one. The license still applied. Did you restore using the cd from factory? I thought the license on the DC would match the license on windows or mac since it would be using the same license?
