Default Calling all computer "geeks" and such

I figured this would be a great place to get a few questions answered regarding my wireless router. I have a linksys WRT330N, and last night we had a pretty good rain/thunderstorm and where I live I lost power for a bit. After making sure everything was ok, I noticed a computer that's connected via wireless USB dongle my wireless speed is laggy to hardly nonexisitant. BUT my 360, main PC, and my roommate's laptop (all wired) all run without a hitch. Is is possible my router has a wireless circuit board that got fried? Or something inside that shorted and doesn't transmit a wireless signal?

Try unplugging the router then plugging it back in, that should fix it for you.

Ditto. I don't think I've ever seen a situation where only the wireless signal was permanently hindered or handcuffed as it were, so there's probably just something screwy going on in there and it needs a reset. Worst-case scenario (well not the worst, but the next step I guess you could say) would be to do a hard reset of the router. There's usually a depressed button on the chassis that you can only access with the tip of a pen or paperclip.

Believe me guys, that's not it. I restarted my modem, then my router in that order and it's worked before. But not this time, I even rebooted the router in the linksys setup page, and nothing. No settings have been altered. It happened last night after the power went out. I was able access pages last night but it was sluggish and today, no connection. I thought it could be the USB dongle, but when bringing up a page on my iPhone it can't even bring up the page. Any thoughts?

Did you try the hard reset method? There's usually a button that'll allow you to reset everything that way. You might also try a firmware update just for kicks.

Tried that this morning. Also, I looked on linksys.com and I do have the latest firmware. So it's not that.

Get a D-link! Seriously those Linksys are horrible! Perfect time to upgrade. I have the DIR-655 and I can tell you from experience with other routers including Linksys, the DIR-655 ROCKS!

It looks like my router is messed up. No matter what I do I can't get wireless activity. Thanks for your advice guys and "geeks" LOL. Looks like I'll be picking one up in the AM.

Good luck with the new unit, and bummer that your old one had to crap out on you like that.

While I respect the words of the guy a few posts above, I absolutely despise D-Link at this point in my computer life. They screwed me over really badly one time on a replacement router, and I swore to never buy from them again.

I have 3 things connected via Ethernet and I get a great connection. Now anything wireless, a spare computer that says it can't connect to my wireless
network, and 2 iPhones don't get any bandwidth even though the phones are connected via wifi. So it's odd. No settings have been altered and I've resetted the hell out of this thing. And it's still no go. Thanks for your replies.

The same frustration you have with D-Link is my frustration with Linksys. Horrible product IMO and tech support couldn't even help me get connected, wtf?, it's your job to help and you can't!

I had a lynksys and it sucked, get a new one. But are you saying iPhones don't work at all? I don't have one but my cell doesn't use the router to get online. Would a router be a problem for your phone?

Make sure your router and wireless card both have a range of 300mbs and it suddenly stops working it's just a drop in connection which plauges every wireless network. Simply turn your router off and on that should fix the problem.
