AWESOME NEWS!!! Thank you OP!!!

Maybe it's just the animation fan in me, but I'm thinking this will sellout in the pre-sale stage. Definitely worth keeping an eye on!

EDIT: Not that I need to explain, but my excitement for this comes from a time many years ago when I had very real dreams (to me) of becoming a stop-motion animator. I was really intrigued by George Pal (as well as others) at the time and couldn't read/find enough info about those great pioneers. I had doubts that I would ever see George Pal's work come to bluray, so this feels special to me. I realize it isn't for everybody.

What's with all those standard def cartoons and special features? I hate that. I'm buying a bluray, not a DVD.

You'd rather have no extras at all than SD ones? Those are bonus features. Give me a break.

Is this Region A only? I didn't see any mention of region coding on the product page.

Edit: And seven of them are in HD, plus you get the superb full-length Pal doc, interviews, bonus cartoons, commentary, 'and more'. I swear, some people just like to complain.

Assumedly some/all of the 'and more' will be the extras from the George Pal doc DVD:

Quote:
- Theatrical Trailers:

- The Fantasy Film Worlds Of George Pal
- Destination Moon

- Promotional Excerpts for Doc Savage: Man of Bronze

- Reminiscences by Disney Animator Ward Kimball and Puppetoon Animators

- Kinescopes on the Set of Destination Moon and at the Premiere of The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm

- Interview with George Pal

- Pal Family Home Movies

- Production Photo & Art Gallery

That's pretty standard practice for a lot of bonus features nowadays.. the set looks really impressive, at least in quantity.

Indeed!

So what is Puppetoon all about? The features look like they are in great number, but are they of great quality?

I don't usually take part in these presale things, but this feels very special, more special than the other limited releases... I might try it out

Limited to 3000 copies. *

* Until we sell all of those and reissue it with a slightly different cover for the unlimited version.

Is that possible? I mean, I guess I know it's possible, but does this distributor have a habit of doing that?

Well, no, my comment was just a slam at others who have done something like that. Outside of TT where their contract implicitly states no more than 3,000 period, why would any independent company restrict themselves to that number when they have the rights to the film and can sell more? The "limited edition" tactic is just a marketing gimmick to make people buy something quickly. If it never sells out the 3,000, then the company looks like they kept their word. But if it does sell out, you can 99% guarantee some alternate variation of the release will come back out.

PS, my apologies to b2mp studio for assuming you would follow through with my theory. it's all just based on other small companies' practices over the years.

I see. Well, I guess it's always a worry that they won't follow through with the promise of a limited run, but I want to trust them just because. I have personally not seen any limited releases that are stated to be a definitive number that did go past that. Limited Edition movies and games come out all the time that aren't actually "limited", but when I see the actual number of how many copies they will make, and it's so tiny as with this film, I have more positive feelings about believing them.

Which releases are you referring to?

If they update the cover art to reflect that, then we will change it, but right now, it's just being sold as The Puppetoon Movie.
