Default Microsoft advertising Sony Blu-ray

Here's an ironic ad.

I'm glad I did a search before posting this. I too just saw this and laughed when the kid and his mom both looked at each other and said "BLU-RAY" at the same time. It ended up being the pc they bought.

But the funny thing is how many of these commercials are real customers and how many are actual actors doing this service for Microsoft.

I have yet to see this commercial (on TV I mean).

EDIT: I want to punch that kid...and I hope my kids are never that annoying.

It reminds me of the N64 kids.

I think these commercials are stupid.

Unless I hear them wrong, it's basically saying:

"If you find a computer for under $1,500, we'll pay for it."

I'm sure some clever marketing genius thought this was so smart of him, since you can't find a Mac laptop for less than $1,500 (although Macbooks start at $1,300).

So basically what it comes down to is whether someone will spend $1,500+ of their own money just to buy a Mac, instead of getting a $1,500 PC for free.

Who would really turn that down?

The best solution is to have MS give you the $1,500 computer for free, and then you sell it in the parking lot to some guy for $1,200, and take the money over to the Apple store.

It's a deal with Sony just like the previous ads pimped HP. Best Buy also co-sponsors them.

MS is pimping laptops that use their products as part of what is finally a decent response to the snarky "i'm a mac" ads. "I'm just as fast and a lot cheaper" is the point

Think of it as more of a dig at Apple's continued stonewalling on Blu than an MS endorsement, and remember all 3 parties had a hand in creating them, so since sony is pimping Blu, it made the cut

There's another commercial with a guy who looks like a hippie. He pretty much does the same thing the mom and son do, especially avoiding the MACs.

Funny thing is i don't think they mention Vista once in any of the ADs. (You know, the thing MS actually makes)

Guess you missed the one where the girl spent $699.99 on a HP?

These are no more stupid than the "I'm a Mac" commercials.

As for the commercial above with the Sony, they got a FW series with a Blu-ray Drive.

Yeah, apparently toefer has missed the point that the consumers in the commercials set the price point and parameters of what they want the computer to do. Also missed the point that get you get an entry level Macbook for $1300 and a high-end Sony for $1500 with BD (I'm just curious... what model of Macbook comes with a BD drive?).

For 90% of the market, that's what makes sense.

As for the "I'm a Mac" commercials, they're not just stupid, they're offensive and condescending. I thoroughly enjoy my IPhone and my IPod but I will never buy a Mac because of those ads and I was raised on Macs.
