Question Anyone else wonder why...

...Stores never seem to get enough Blu Rays for first week sales? I honestly feel *every* single week like Ima go out looking for a movie and I'm not gonna be able to find it ANYWHERE.. Any store I go to usually only gets 2-3 copies of a Blu Ray movie (If they even get it at all) and it's like a race to get it first.. With sales of players and stuff going up, and with Blu Ray catching on the way it seems to have done lately, Why are the shortages continuing?.. And why can't you find all the titles at EVERY store? It's ridiculous! Meh...

Odd complaint from someone with about 300 blu-rays...I will admit it ticks me off pretty bad when I have to go to more than 2 stores to get something, especially on its release date.

This is exactly the reason why I will be going to Best Buy asap tomorrow morning for the XMEN trilogy.

Target isn't having the trilogy as a whole, Only the movies sold individually so yeah.. Best Buy all the way, And yes.. I pretty much have to go like 40 miles to get to a Best Buy which seem to get at least 2 copies of most everything.. I just wish it was like 5-10 copies..

There's almost 3,000,000 retail stores in the U.S. alone.

Even if you 1/4 that number for stores that would possibly carry blu-rays thats 750,000 stores that need movies for that day. Even at 5 units per store thats 3.75 millions copies. Which I think we can agree is a big number to have out for one day for a format thats still barely grabbing 10% of the weekly market

Having worked in MMB at a Target, for a "normal" selling new release I'd say we'd get about 120 copies. Maybe less. And for that same movie maybe 5 copies at most. And there would still be some copies at the end of the day usually. The only movies to sell out on release day were Transformers, TDK, and Ironman and maybe 2 or 3 other which we had received only a few copies. Demand Demand Demand is what the distributors care about. Obviously some areas have more of a demographic for blu's than others. And that friend, is just bad luck.

Future Shop has exellent first day sales and they usually have lots of copies, so no problem here.

My Best Buy's suck on catalog titles. I can't tell you how many times I go in on Tuesday release day and they don't have a catalog title in stock. They either havve to go in the back and search for it or they tell me I can order it on their website. If I wanted to order it online I sure as hell wouldn't get it from Worst Buy.com.

That's what I'm afraid of.. I couldn't make it up there since Sunday yet.. I'm going tomorrow (Tuesday), I just hope they have the trilogy set in stock cuz I have that coupon and I'd rather have it that way...
