Default VAN HALEN-Themed 'Guitar Hero' Game Appears To Be Moving Forward

Quote:
Kris Pigna of 1UP.com reports that rumors of an all-VAN HALEN-themed Guitar Hero game have been around for a little while now, but Activision has yet to confirm it. Now, as is often the case, it looks like a ratings board beat them to it.

The German Voluntary Monitoring Organization of Entertainment Software (Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle) has posted a listing (see below) for "Guitar Hero Headlining Van Halen" for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. While this does seem to confirm that VAN HALEN is next in line for the Guitar Hero treatment (following AEROSMITH and METALLICA), it does also seem odd that Activision has stuffed the word "headlining" into the title for what seems like no particular reason.

The biggest questions center around which band personnel will appear in the game. There's no word on whether original bassist Michael Anthony will be excluded from the game play in favor of current bass player Wolfgang Van Halen, and it's also unknown whether the game avatar of singer David Lee Roth will be joined by Sammy Hagar or even Gary Cherone.

Guitarist Eddie Van Halen recently said in an interview that work on a new VAN HALEN album could begin later this year. The band is also rumored to be considering a summer stadium tour with GUNS N' ROSES.

I've got it bad, got it bad, got it bad!!

EVH has been saying for years a new album is coming, so I won't believe it until it's in my trembling hands. It would suck for VH to tour with GnR, just because the tickets would be beyond insanely expensive. I could easily see $150 each plus fees.

But I would still find a way to go.

I'm sorry, but they need to stop with all the different Guitar Hero games. Just make a Van Halen Track pack or something. There's no need to make a new game for it.

Agreed, and I'm a huge VH and VH (Van Hagar) fan. Heck, VH III was one of my favorites and I loved Ed's lead vocals.

Make a great overall game and I'll buy the tracks online I want.

+1 to the idea of a song pack and not a whole game devoted to every band who ever lasted more then 2 albums

Also, I want the Van Halen songs not he Van Hagar ones they stink!

I'll buy this in a heartbeat! Would especially love a bundle with a 'frankenstein' guitar included

as for GNR and VH touring together, don't see it happening and would not want to see it happen. I could care less about GNR without Slash, Izzy, and Duff in the mix. Also I'm pretty sure VH just started writing for a new cd so I don't see it happening anytime soon if at all.

I think we're way past the saturation point with these games (even though I love them all and have most of them myself) but Van Halen would be right at the top of my list to get their own themed game. I'd buy this on day 1 for sure.
