Default Does Quantum of Solace get better with a second viewing?

Hi everyone,

I wasn't a huge fan of Quantum of Solace when it came out in theaters but was wondering if it gets better with additional viewings. The reason I ask is because I have a $5 coupon from the Best Buy reward zone and I thought about picking it up since I have all the other Bond films from when they came out in the Ultimate Edition DVDs a couple of years back and figured I should complete the collection.

Thanks for any advice.

Ah, go get it...

Picture and sound alone make it a 100% buy, and yes it gets better with more viewings. IMO

I would have to say, "Yes". I wasn't that impressed with my first viewing. But I enjoyed it more the second time. I thought the editing was horrible in this one. Too much cutting and moving around. I couldn't see what was happening during most of the action sequences (opening car chase especially).

Yes!!

A second viewing helps you follow the plotline more and you'll also discover the growth of Bond's character from the beginning to end.

I totally agree! I'm a huge 007 fan, and I really liked Casino Royale. But I was very dissapointed with Quantum when I saw it in theatres. Not much Bond left... It's a plain action movie.

Haven't bought the Blu-ray yet, mainly because of my dissapointment, but also because I'm sure there will be a 2-disc special edition of this like they did with Casino Royale.

See, I liked it a lot in the theater, and couldn't wait to buy it on blu. Watched it again, and it was pretty good...not gonna say I was disappointed exactly on second viewing, but I probably could have just rented it. But I'm not sorry I bought it because the PQ and AQ are demo material.

Yes, get QoS.

I saw it in the theatre and actually fell asleep as it was hard work day for me. Didn't think much of it plus my gf, who had high regard for Casino Royale, didn't like it.

I watched it on BD and was quite surprised how good (not as good as CR though) was.

I like this movie better than casino royal. I felt the card game in the third act bogged the movie down. Also it had the lamest car chase scene (or lack there of) of any bond film i can think of except moonraker .

It's probably the best if you watch it right after watching Casino Royale. QofS is a continuation of CR and takes place just a few hours after CR ends.

And it gives a finality to the story of his pain over Vesper and heals Bond from the vengeance that is eating away at him. In the end, he has closure and doesn't end up killing the last guy.

It's the only reason I will own QofS (when the price drops ), in my opinion it's not a good stand alone movie, it actually almost lost me when I went to see it, but I really liked how it ended. And I was glad I refreshed my memory by seeing CR before I went to see QofS.

So yeah, if you liked the story of CR, not just the action, it's well worth to have.

I don't agree with 2nd viewing making it much better. I DID buy the blu-ray but I am still not finding it a good movie at all even after really trying hard to like the scenery, the villains, the girls, etc. I mean the girls weren't very spectacular or seductive at all and especially compared to the Casino Royale ones.

I feel it was too aimed at the current real world events being High Euro vs USD, not loving the French or South Americans (the villains), the green factor with water (with Oil not being important!).

To each his own James Bond taste I guess. Enjoy.

You mean except for the fact that Olga Kurylenko is probably the hottest Bond girl ever? Don't make me post a google images shot of her and get myself banned
