Russia The Dreamers - Bertolucci

Hi folks,

it seems that Bertolucci's "The Dreamers" have just been released in Russia :

http://www.kniga.ru/dvd/817288

as far as I know this is the first release ever of "The Dreamers" on blu-ray.
I've seen nothing so far announced in France, UK, US or Germany...

I would like to know if someone already bought it and how the picture quality is.

- first, the existential question : is it the uncut version ?

- are the Russian subtitles removable on the English soundtrack ?

- according to some web site (I haven't been able to find a test of this blu-ray) it is announced as region A-B-C : could you please confirm it is not region C locked ?

from what I've been able to find :

Format: Blu-ray (PAL) (Keep case)
Distributor: Carmen Video
Regional Code: A, B, C
Number of layers: BD-25 (1 layer)
Subtitles: Russian
Sound Track:
Voice-Over Russian Dolby Digital 5.1
Voice-Over Russian DTS-HD 5.1
English DTS-HD 5.1
English Dolby Digital 5.1
Image Format: 1080p High Definition 16:9
2003, 110 min. , United Kingdom - Germany - Italy - USA
Recorded Picture Company - Art film

if the 110 min announced is accurate, then it would match with the uncut version.
But there has been some strange things in the cut of the film: for example in Italy they have removed on the DVD all the scene where Eva Green is cooking the ratatouille. Those who have seen the film know that this scene is very innocent ... So is it the French lobbying of French cuisine patrimoine which forced the cuts in the Italian version to avoid giving a disastrous image of French cuisine?? (as far as I'm concerned she can serve me a dish like that everytime she wants )

If it turns out to be the uncut release I would like to order it with Andrei Rublev
is kniga.ru the best site to order blu-ray titles when you live in Europe ??(France)

Information from www.hdclub.ua:

Runtime: 110 min
Size: BD-25 (Blu-ray Single-Layer Disc)
Video: MPEG-2 / 1080i50 / 1.78:1 (original 1.85:1)
Audio:
English DTS-HD MA 5.1
English DD 5.1
Russian DTS-HD MA 5.1
Russian DD 5.1
Subtitles: Russian

hdclub.ua has the screenshots. To download them in full resolution you need to be registered on the site. Two examples in full resolution you can view here: screenshot1 and screenshot2 (oops, photobucket seems to re-size them ).

Distributor (Carmen Film) about the source for BD (in Russian, but not too much said though): "It's a remastered version. Real HD rather than DVD upscale". I'm not sure if they understand what they are talking about.

Placeholder on Amazon for US release.

thanks for the site I didn't know this place...

so I can see that there is the french "ratatouille" scene...

did you find somewhere if this was region A-B-C ? I've just seen the FREE logo on hdclub.ua
are the russian subtitles "removable" on the original (here, English) track ?

too bad for the 1080i but even in France the Kielowski box set released by Mk2 was in 1080i (fortunately Criterion is coming...)
by the way, in France there seems to be a bad habit here regarding 1080i BR : many titles released in 1080p24 in the US are released in 1080i in France...

I don't know if when a movie is listed on amazon.com it means that it is really planned to be released on blu-ray.
There are many titles with such "placeholder" page on amazon.com and they never see the light of the day (by the way, who can create such web page on amazon.com ? only the amazon team ?)

Fortunately since The Dreamers came out in Russia we can (I hope) expect some other blu-ray releases in other country.

Got a reply from HDClub: disc is region-free, the subtitles are removable.

I would not invest into this release as I expect to see the film on Blu-ray in the U.S.
