I was just curious I need new eyeglasses (lenses at least) because mine have some scratches on them, is there a way to remove the scratches? I've heard that there is but never been brave enough to try a remedy, also if I just need new lenses is it possible that they would just put them in my old frame?

![]() More than likely they can replace the lenses only on your frames. |

You mean the ACA/Obamacare?
It may cover vision health exam, but I doubt it would cover lenses and/or frames. However, the whole thing is so damn confusing that I'm not sure. I have insurance through my employer so I haven't done a ton of research. |

i need new ones. my current pair is about 3 years old and they're scratched pretty bad. i don't need new frames, but i usually get them as i try to keep it fresh. my best friend finally got glasses (after everybody telling him he needed them for so long) and he got a normal pair and a pair of prescription sunglasses as well. and of course being how he is, he had to get ray-ban frames for both pair. i told him i didn't even wanna know how much they cost. but i do think that when i go to get my new ones i'm gonna get some prescription sunglasses so i don't have to use the "clip-on" style (they don't really clip on, but whatever). and i always keep my old pair as a backup just in case. |

i suggest you guys gettin unscratcble lenses. they are mighty fine.
in last couple of years glass' prices have come down a lot here in Finland, they used to cost veryvery much. and when you buy new glasses you get prescription sunglasses for free ! |

I always make sure to buy the scratch-resistant coating for any new pair of glasses. I'm pretty rough with them, but the coating has stood up very well each time. Oh, and how the heck does one spend $900 on a pair of glasses? I buy mine at Costco and they cost me about $225. Plus my benefits give me $200 back. |

Got my last pair from Wally World, picked out some reasonably priced frames then got some moderately expensive lenses without stuff such as scratch resistance or UV resistance and walked out with a $180 of glasses. Assuming I'm doing as well as I think I'll be doing soon, I'll get a better pair down the road, probably in 2016.

Free prescription sunglasses would be cool if such a deal was ever offered in the states. I know my insurance basically gives me $100 towards eyeglasses, which is peanuts when you consider my prescription costs about $1,000. Glasses last a long time with me...I usually replace them every seven/eight years because of the scratching that cannot be avoided.

You guys should consider lasik eye surgery. I got lasik surgery a little over 2 years ago. My girlfriend paid for it as Christmas gift to me. The total was about $1,500. In the long run it is cheaper than all the pairs of glasses you will buy in your lifetime. My eyesight is still at 20/20.
