Default Rich's h.r. Giger homage home theater

Hi ALL!

Right now I'm still in the collecting & planning of the construction phase of my homage to H.R. Giger as a home theater. Unfortunately, I've been focused on this and do not yet own a digital camera which will take a viewable photo indoors (hope to resolve that eventually).

Anyway, I'm planning on adding 2 of these http://www.halloweenexpress.com/alien-wall-p-3098.html - one each on the left and right front walls where my projection TV, front sound stage and one of my 2 subwoofers will sit.

I already own ORIGINAL movie poster collectibles (including complete Lobby Card Sets, etc.) for every movie influenced by H.R. Giger, as well a 3 signed & numbered lithographs!

And I've already created an album which at least has some pics I grabbed online which show some of the other collectibles I have recently purchased and/or am receiving within the next month!

Haven't decided about what colors to use for the walls since my carpet is a very light wine/brown color and there is walnut wood covering which covers the bottom 1/3 of the room (all the way around). So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I have seen some area carpets which mix earth tones with black so I was wondering if that was a way to go (with the darkest brown being on the wall behind the projection TV)?

Still, this is a work which is still in the very early stages so hopefully you won't expect too much!

Thanks!!

Rich

Oh, most of my A/V equipment is listed below

Well, I will try to do that sometime during the beginning of the NEW YEAR! I have Sooooo many things in the works right now. I'm a retired, disabled Vietnam veteran on a fixed income and I just finished a lengthy estate battle with my sister & her wealthy husband! For example, according to the State of Tennessee, Montgomery County Tax office & my homeowners insurance, I own this home & the land but the mortgage company refuses to put the mortgage in my name (Chase & to think they received a bailout). The mortgage is still (since February of 2007) continues to list my deceased parents as the mortgage holders & they've informed me that the only way I can get the mortgage in my name is to refinance. However, I'm not sure I want to do that since they've already received 1/2 of the mortgage payments from both me and my parents (who couldn't have made such payments without my considerable financial assistance & 24/7 and 365 day care since they were both disabled and couldn't drive). I wish I could get some free legal advice because with 1/2 of the mortgage already paid off, I'm not sure it would be advantageous for me to start with a new 30 year refinance!

Wow, a Giger influenced theater, I could think of unlimited possibilities! Those alien wall pieces could look really, really cool in a dark room. Maybe a full sized alien in a corner!
Some green lighting!

What posters do you have? The only Alien poster I have in my collection is a die cut UK quad (the egg is die cut and has green plastic for a glowing effect). I wish I had one of these, they are very rare.....

ALIEN
Well I do own that rare advance Alien 1-sheet poster and while I don't own a US version of the regular 1-sheet, I do own a mint Italian version of that poster with the egg. Also, the 15th Anniversary 1-Sheet and the Director's Cut Double-sided 1-sheet. I also have 3 different lobby card sets, all of the original picture books, the hard cover novel w/jacket. H.R. Giger signed/numbered lithographs of the egg & space jockey & Giger's Alien hardcover which is signed/numbered. Also the original collector's card set w/Sigourney Weaver's autograph on one of them.
ALIENS
Style "A," "B" & "C" 1-sheets, 2 different lobby card sets, the hardcover novel w/jacket and the collector's card set.
ALIEN 3
Both the advance & regular 1-sheets, 1 lobby card set and the collector's card set.
ALIEN RESURRECTION
Both the Advance (2 piece), DS 1-sheet and Style "D," 1 lobby card set and the collector's card set.
ALIEN v PREDATOR
Both Style "A" & "B" DS 1-sheets, the double-sided Style "A" 1-sheet and 1 lobby card set.
ALIENS v PREDATOR: REQUIEM
Both the Advance & DS 1-Sheet and the lobby card set.
SPECIES
The Advance & DS 1-Sheet, the lenticular poster, 2 different lobby card sets, Species Design Hardcover signed/numbered by Giger, 1 Giger signed/numbered lithograph showing 'Sil' front, side & back view and the collector's card set
SPECIES 2
Both the Style "A" & "C" 1-Sheet and the lobby card set
SPECIES 3 AND SPECIES IV: THE AWAKENING
Style "A" 27" x 40" 1-Sheet

Still have to get Poltergeist II and The Intruder Within movie posters and the lobby card set for Poltergeist II. [There doesn't appear to be lobby card sets for Species 3, 4 and for The Intruder Within because these were really bad movies and they were all released direct to video or created for TV.]

[This is only a small part of my original movie poster collection because I've been collecting motion picture memorabilia since 1970 after I returned from Vietnam. My oldest movie poster is "Bataan" from 1943 and I think my most valuable items are an original "Jaws!" And if you click on my name, you will see images of the statues & bust which I currently own or having coming in the next few months.]

Hi Rich,

Sounds like a great concept for a HT. I love that people have passion for certain movies, directors, sports figures, etc. to make a dedicated room. Do try to get some pics when you get the chance, as making recommendations would be rather difficult without.

John

I Probably Cant Provide Much Help on the Running Commentary.(Sorry)But Everything Else Seems to be Set-Up Correctly.

Just Viewed Your Gallery and The Amazing Pieces From Alien and Species.
They Are Amazing Statues and Replicas. And,Great Choice In Going With SideShow Collectibles.

True,They ARE Expensive, but More then Worth It.The Detail and Level of Craftsmanship that goes into Pieces from SideShow Is Incredible and Amazing.

They Seem So Realistic and Lifelike,it looks and feels if they are Actual Figures from the Movie itself.

Thanks for Sharing Your Passion and Love for Your Collection,With Us.
I rated and Left a Comment to your Gallery.

You Have Made One Great Start.
And I Really Look Forward to Following Your Progress

THANKS "talstarone!" Just uploaded my ORIGINAL movie posters but they aren't HR Giger related so eventually I'm going to take all of those frames, have the original posters removed & have them replaced with my original Alien (I own all of them so going to have to decide which ones to hang on my walls), Species & my 3 Giger signed/numbered lithographs & my 1 Giger Museum/Exhibition poster. Photos of my equipment, etc. will be posted in the very near future as well as more collectible pics (because I have that 1:1 head bust coming)!

rkolinski,

That is a nice poster collection that you have listed. My wife is a HUGE Alien quadrilogy fan. We watched Alien and Aliens over the holiday and I really enjoyed seeing them again. Of course they could really use a Blu Ray treatment, which we will hopefully get this year!

Can't wait to see the theater progress. I could see an Alien theme looking really nice and dark!
