Default Swedish Let the Right One In

I was told by several sources that the Swedish BD of Let the Right One In was region free, yet it will not play on my Region A player. I can't find any info on it. I know sometimes there are ways around this kind of hiccup on the PS3s. Any answers? I'm sorry if this is covered elsewhere but the forum search tools won't let me search for "let the right one in".

When I put it in my player the error message is "this video cannot be played" or some such.

This title played on the PS3 until a recent firmware update. Prior to the update (2.70), the PS3 skipped the part it couldn't play (a 1080i50 intro or something) and went to the menu/movie. After the firmware update, it throws up an error message instead that you can't get past.

I was able to watch the movie once on my PS3 before unknowingly making the disc unplayable by installing the latest update.

Zen_Amako is probably right. I have bought some Swedish Blu-ray's myself (region free), but due to the 1080i50 encoding they won't play on a US player.

This breaks my heart! Let the Right One In is a masterpiece, and I couldn't stomach the new crappy American subtitles. At least the Swedish BD came with a DVD that I can play on my region free DVD player. OOH Magnet is going to be forever on my sh*tlist for this. I HATE YOU MAGNET.... HATE YOU.

Get a region B player. They don't cost too much, and think of all the great movies you can buy.

Like the Passolini collection.

This disc still plays fine on my Panny BD30. Just have to wait through the 1080i/50 intros with sound but no video.

Also, how "cheap" is a region B player really? I haven't seen any viable options under $500, and I don't count the player DVDBeaver has been pimping because who knows what kind of firmware support it will have.
