the OP has a legitimate question, one i was wondering myself (i was thinking maybe the same scenes that DVDave suggested)

Well, Christian Bale seems like the guy to me who wants to do take after take after take. The DP wants to change a light, and cannot do that in between takes because of Bale's necessity to continue after a take. So, he does it during a shot. Or maybe the DP said that he wanted to change a light, and Bale refused to stop and wanted to continue. Point is, you don't treat people you work with like that. If I were the guy he yelled at, I would've told Bale he could talk to his mother like that, but not to me.

These things happen in film making, just look at the production of Blade Runner and the tension that existed there. Alas we got at the very least one of the most visually spectacular films made, and to many (including me) one of the best stories in cinema.

Brucie? The guy's name was Shane Hurlbut the DP. If you mean "Shut the f*ck up Bruce!" from the recording, that guy wasn't the problem.
