Depends on what kind of comedies you're into. Forgetting Sarah Marshall was terrific, as is the forthcoming Adventureland (it's not out till August 25th on BD, but it's definitely worth checking out).

Movies with the offbeat plots like Donnie Darko... hmm.... There's always the classic A Clockwork Orange. And I'll even throw in Mulholland Drive (not on BD, unfortunately).

Er, comedy and Donnie Darko don't really belong in the same sentence...

That said, here's my highest rated movies for the past few years:

Crash
The Door in the Floor
Stranger Than Fiction
Neil Young: Heart of Gold
300
Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic
Donnie Darko: The Director's Cut

1999 Magnolia - didn't overly like. Thought Short Cuts was much better.
1999 The Virgin Suicides - awesome debut by Sophia
1999 American Beauty - great film
1998 Rushmore - Great performance by Murray, foreshadow of Lost in Translation
1997 The Ice Storm - The BEST dysfunctional family movie of all time
1995 The Doom Generation - haven't seen it, but Rose McGowan looks hot
Commented, inline.

As an aside, I saw a trailer for a movie by David Lynch's daughter - I think it's her first film since Boxing Helena (but I could be wrong).

Hmmm while Muholland is much easier to follow than Lost Highway, I'd go back to Blue Velvet for a much better David Lynch experience.

Why do you say that? I thought it was hilarious. I don't think it was meant to be taken too funny, but it definitely wasn't to be taken too seriously either. I think it might be one of the few movies that has pulled off Dramedy correctly.

if you liked Donnie Darko you HAVE TO WATCH The Chumscrubber similar in many ways with an all-star cast.. (not on Blu yet...)

I'll tell you what, everyone seemed to hate it, but if you like raunchy humor, My Best Friend's Girl is hilarious. Dane Cook's best performance since his small role in Waiting.
