Escape From New York -Australian Release ? - Blu-ray Forum

Anyone got this..Any info on if its better than the UK version?

I ordered this, should be here early next week. It's still a Studio Canal release though, so don't get your hopes high.

Hmmm. It says UNIVERSAL. Did they use the same transfer?

Alright, time for the bad news: not only is the Australian Disc also a Studio Canal product, it seems to be the exact same disc as the UK one. There's a short clip showing the (somewhat ironic) Optimum Releasing logo right before the menu. The picture is terrible, the rest I didn't bother with. Don't waste your money and wait for the US Disc.

I second that opinion. This movie is one of my favourite guilty pleasures and I was so disappointed with the PQ. If somebody else picks this crock up as their very first Blu-ray title, they are in for a rude shock!
It's enough to turn a newby off the format completely.
Studio Canal should fix the transfer and offer an exchange program similar to what Sony did with "The Fifth Element".
