17 new titles coming out, I believe this makes the biggest day for them. We'll see how it turns out, if HD-DVD still can't manage to outsell Blu-ray this week, there's no chance in hell that they'll survive the rest of the year

I really wish 20th Century Fox would get back into the game.

I wonder if this has anything to do with school letting out? At least here on the west coast today was the last day for many students.

Unfortunately, not one good movie in the bunch. Enjoyed "Meet Joe Black" on first viewing, but a dumb movie that does not respect repeated viewing, and with quality control so poor with Universal. I feel sorry for the DUD clan.

I wouldn't mind getting Freedom 1 (anime) but from what I heard, this is coming out on Blu-ray as well... other then that I could care less about any of the movies.

17 titles = desperation...

having said that....I wish BD was this desperate

but at least my preferred format will be around longer than 2 years...

Well when HD DVD was one year old, they had 153 movies in hd dvd. Tomorrow when Blu-ray is one year old, it'll have 236 movies in BD.

That's 54% more in the same period of time.

And I expect the HD DVD Promotions Group to make a flashy announcement about that, considering Ken Graffeo is the main guy.

And, of course, grand statements about a turn around will be expressed by the HD DVD faithful.

they can have their week after this weeks news...

I think you'll begin to see PS3's move a little faster along with the new Sony standalone player..I think the S300 or whatever...

I expect that HD DVD will close the gap to 50:50 for the week, and the whole HD DVD fanboy corps will try very hard to spin it positive.

Given the rumors we've all heard regarding a flatline on hd-dvd player sales and with the news of blockbuster's decision to roll with blu-ray, Im not so sure that 17 hd-dvd titles will be welcome in very many stores. Why would anyone take on what is sure to be dead surplus (especially in that quantity...17) in a matter of what...weeks?
