Default Metallica: Quebec Magnetic (December 11)

http://www.metallica.com/news/201209...tic-on-dvd.asp

Happy September... we've got an early Christmas present for you! As we get ready to head back into the studio, we thought we would round out the Death Magnetic experience with the DVD/Blu-Ray release of the two nights we filmed in Quebec City way back in the fall of 2009. We were in the thick of the World Magnetic tour at that time and thought it would be cool to invite our friend Wayne Isham out to capture the shows, so while we were getting ready to film the 3D movie and all the other shenanigans we've been up to since then, Wayne and his team have been quietly editing and working with our team of next level audio engineers. The resulting two disc set will be ready in early December of this year with all the details coming very soon. However, we need your help now!

As we mentioned before, we played two shows... we would like YOU to pick which setlist is the main feature with the remaining songs not played in the setlist that you choose appearing later on the disc in the "extras" section. It's simple - just vote for setlist one or setlist two before this Monday, September 24 at 9:00 AM PDT and which ever setlist gets the most votes will be our "main feature."

Thanks in advance and as we love to say, keep watching here for all the info!

It's not a present if you have to buy it. I know it's a detail, but I hate this attitude that shows through. Same as "congratulations on buying ___" which should always say "thank you for buying ___" Oh well.

But back on topic. I'd pick the setlist that has less tracks from the post-Justice era.

Metallica doesn't give away anything for free. You should know that.

I'd buy some 1989 shows on day one, but I'll pass on 2009 shows. They've sort of turned into a poor parody of their former selves, IMHO.

Pass on the 2009 shows for me. I got to see Metallica on the
"Monsters of Rock" 1988 + 2x on the "And Justice For All" Tours.
It would be cool to see "Binge And Purge" + "A Year And A Half" get a blu release.

Vote for either show. Really doesn't matter at the end. It will be a 2 disc DVD/ 1 disc Blu-ray with EVERY song performed over the 2 shows. So what wasn't repeated will be a bonus.

Personally, I voted for Night 2. I saw the show twice on the World Magnetic stage. Detroit in 1/09 and Grand Rapids, MI in 11/09... and holy hell were they on point.

At the end of it, though, I am not a huge fan of a Wayne Isham production. Seems way to frantic and ADD for me. His direction of the Mexico City Blu-ray was wayyy to hectic. Quick cuts, real fast snap camera moves. I really prefer the way Français Pour Une Nuit was shot. There were quick cuts and whatnot, but you got to see more of a complete performance.

As far as the whole "what they are" and "they were better when..." and yadda yadda yadda... go troll elsewhere.

+1
Would love to get the full Seattle show with The Cult.

Yet another 4 Horsemen less setlist. They have a rights issue with this tune or what?

Here's an idea:

Just make setlist #1 Disk 1 and setlist #2 Disk 2.

Seconded. At this point, they just don't matter to me anymore. Even if they started a new tour and played material prior to the black album exclusively, it won't be the same. They're about as metal as Jethro Tull.
