That is SO great. I've had my house robbed. I'd do the same thing if I caught someone doing it. I hate thieves!!!!

Good story, but I can't believe the police let one of the criminals out on bail. I just hope they have some police watching the kid's house, cause he could come back for retaliation...

His parents are probably buying him GTA to sharpen his shooting skills.

They set a bail amount and you pay it. That is the norm. It wasn't a murder charge against them. They aren't going to be denied bail for a burglary.

Shu76,

It's actually because they assume you might have a gun that they waited until you left. In countries where it's mostly illegal to own a gun robberies are predominantly "hot" (occurring while the residents are home) because there is an expectation on the part of the criminals that they will not be confronted with a gun. The expectation of robbers in the States is that they will be confronted with a gun if they go in while the residents are home, so most robberies in the States are "cold."

(Of course, I'm assuming you live in the States, which might be wrong.)

This will sound really harsh, but I believe it for the exact reason you mentioned. Because criminals often seek retaliation, if you are present and in a position to protect your home and family... you should always "accidentally" kill the intruder. Oops, sorry.

Probably got pwned by a friend or someone you know. Sounds like they knew exactly what was in your house (i.e. a friend) and exactly what time you go to work (i.e. a friend). Theives are not James Bond and are not very smart. 9 times out of 10 it is from people you know.

You live in America. Get one. One for your car, and one for your house. I keep a small .22 PPK in the car, and a nice ruger .45 in the home.

No need to even apologize in America (depending on the state). Hell, if you're in Texas, you can get away with shooting them on your front lawn. However, where I am, you just need to make sure that the criminal is inside the threshold of your home by the time the police arrive.

However, let's not forget that there's some areas where you're not even allowed to own/posess a gun.

For the record, I'm not a gun nut, just big on safety and security.

But, to get back on topic:

Kudos to this guy. We should all be so vehement in defending our homes/property. More would-be criminals might reconsider their prior notions.
