Default Denon 1910 vs Onkyo 607 ?

So, I'm looking at upgrading ye olde Denon 1602 (almost 10 yrs old!!). Given my budget of $700 or so, I've narrowed my choices to the Denon 1910 vs Onkyo 607.

From what I've looked at, they both have similar feature sets: 7.1 surround, audio codecs I'd need (DTS decoder, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital, DTS-HD decoder, Dolby Pro Logic IIz), 4 HDMI in, etc...

Does anybody have any thoughts or recommendations one way or another? I've got some brand loyalty to Denon, given my current receiver. However, there seems to be a lot of love for Onkyo on these forums, so I'd be willing to switch if convinced...

Cheers!!

I'd say Denon, but consider both to be good brands.

I personally love the Pioneer Elites and Denons. I currently have a 1909 (essentially the same as the 1910 with one less HDMI input) and love it.

One thing the 1910 has Audyssey MultiEQ and the 607 only has 2EQ. I think this gives the 1910 a significant edge if you plan on using Audyssey because 2EQ does not EQ the sub.

I recommend the Denon 1910 (of course )

Hmmm - interesting! I have to do more research on Audyssey. I know it's a good thing to have, but I don't know much about the variations.
One factor in my decision is that the local HT stores seem to have Denon. In Canada, it seems that Onkyo isn't quite as widely available. I'm thinking this would be helpful for bargaining purposes... So, unless I find the Onkyo on some wicked deal, it sounds like my decision is becoming easier!

Now I just have to work on the WAF to buy it

Agree with the Denon, i find the sound from Onkyo to be a bit thin for my liking but this is a personal preference. Both solid receivers.

IMO the Denon is definitely the winner in the looks department. I think the Onkyo has one more HDMI input (5 total) than the Denon, but the Denon has 2 electrical plugs in the back which the Onkyo lacks. These may or may not be beneficial to you.

Between the two, definitely Denon.
