I created this thread in light of when Sony made the announcement "Legacy hardware" will no longer be accessible or available to purchase from mobile and pc browsers. This typically means that they've currently started the process of shutting down services by limiting users of those systems to only being able to browse and purchase games from the PS3 console directly and many games have been getting de listed as developers want players to focus on the current platform. So now we're in the time frame where it's considerably important to figure out what titles and DLC you want, because up until Sony makes an announcement that the services to these systems are terminated, this is all the time we're going to have left and then these games are gone forever.
Some on my list of recommends are: Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection Drakengard 3 and Nier Resident Evil Umbrella/Darkside Chronicles Resident Evil Code Veronica HD House of the Dead 4 We have already been though this when the Wii shop was announced to close and many fans of that platform had to make a real mad dash to get their libraries figured out. What is the situation regarding downloading stuff onto an external for back-up, and status of ps3 PS+ content? I've got lots of digital games, mostly from PS+, and can't download them onto the machine's HDD becuase of lack of space.
Anyone remind what is the maximum size of an external HDD that the ps3 can handle? |

I've got a 500gb drive for mine, but I'd recommend WD as the Segate's have a higher fail rate.
I don't know if the system can do SSD, but I'd like to research this myself and see what I can do about further backup options. |

(and the Japanese PS3 disc is even English friendly!) In Japan there is also a Bioshock Infinite disc release with ALL DLC on disc. And it's English friendly. And it can be gotten used for next to nothing from Japan. Last edited by jimidini; 01-08-2021 at 10:42 AM. |

I wouldn't purchase anything digitally.
MGS1 is available on disc. MGS2+3 HD as well (and some things were removed from these releases, so any real fan should own the PS2 original discs too) MGS4 too No DLC to my knowledge. Quote:
![]() NieR may have DLC, idk. Maybe not. The base games should be bought physically. Quote:

RE4 is perfectly playable even when you can't read Japanese. Haven't touched Code Veronica yet. Quote:
