Thoughts on Samsung Plasmas

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the PN50B530 or any Samsung B series plasmas for that matter?

I may be in the market to replace my tv and I'm tempted to look into a plasma instead of lcd.

Before anyone mentions it, price is a major factor so Pioneer and Panasonic are pretty much out of the picture. I can get a 50" Samsung Plasma for a considerably better price than a 46" Sammy or Sony LCD, which is why I started thinking about this in the first place.

So just looking for some general thoughts and comments I suppose.

They are very good tvs, they are not as good as Plasmas from Panasonic or Pioneer, but are better than most LCDs in terms of black, and Samsung TVs always have better values.

As you know, Pioneers and Panasonics are known for deeper blacks, but Samsung does pretty well. It has good color, so that makes up for some of what you're missing. Budget restraints prevented me from buying the higher end plasmas as well, but I've been very happy with my Samsung plasma. That said, the Panasonic G10 is in the same $1,500 price range as the B530, so if that's you're spending I think the G10 is the better TV.

The 50" G10 at BB Canada is $2699.99. A full $1100 more than the B530. That brings me well outside of my range unfortunately.

Well that's a no-brainer then. You gotta go with the Samsung.
