Default Where can I order model gun replicas?

When I was a teenager (about 20 years ago), I purchased a model gun replica here in Toronto. The model contained all the parts of a gun (the inside parts were made of metal and the outside parts were made of ABS plastic). Once built, it was truly impressive and, aside from not being able to shoot anything, functioned like the real thing (e.g. semi-automatic, ejecting shell casings, etc.). Recently, I've been wanting to find another one to build again, but am unable to do so - probably for legal and safety reasons (i.e. they look like the real thing). Does anyone know if these model guns are still being manufactured and, if so, where I can order one? Also, does anyone know if there would be any legal restrictions on importing one to Canada? Thanks.

Well not what your looking for but your post reminded me of a story in the Toronto Sun a few weeks back where a guy had the ERT called on him for a lego gun... I doubt you will be able to find what you are looking for locally.

Shipped to US addresses only (with ridiculous restrictions in the commie states). I could never live in a country (or state) where I couldn't head to my local gun shop and buy just about any firearm I desired, whenever I wanted. I suppose I'd have more $$ than I do now, but that's about all.

I've been wanting to order one of these Lego kits for some time. Looks like it might be fun to build.

There's always restrictions. Oh well...it gives the OP an idea of what they cost. I don't buy replicas, I buy the real thing... I was in Cabelas not too long ago and they had a plastic BB gun that was a replica of a Walther P-99..they wanted almost $100 for it. I bought the real gun for only $400...

I hear ya...it is an expensive hobby.

I thought I told you to check out Del-Ton. Both of mine were built from their kits, and they look great & function flawlessly. Pick up a lower from a gun show for ~$110 and you'll be all set.

I purchased some parts from delton when i built my wife's AR. I have heard their complete rifles can be suspect, but I dont own one as Ricshoe so he is probably better informed.

Thanks for the quick reply, guys. I've always had an odd fascination with guns and, although I have no desire to own a real own, believe they are a perfect hybrid of form and function.

That having been said, I thank you for the suggestions, but what I really enjoyed about the replica that I owned and referred to is that I completely built it, like a model plane. All the parts came separate and I had to follow the instructions carefully to make sure that it worked. It was quite an endeavor and gave me a lot of satisfaction once I had finished building it. Unless I'm missing something, it seems that the links you guys have provided are for already built replicas. Thanks, anyway.

Hmm I see what you are saying. You could always buy a gun a disassemble it.. As far as exact replica kits that you can put together as a hobby, I'm not familiar with any.

I thought so. The problem with them, though, is the wait list. The last kit I bought in December 08 didn't arrive until May-Jun 09. If you're not ready right now, you might still want to place an order. They don't charge your cc until it ships. A basic kit is ~$450.

Hmmmm, never that about Del-Ton (but I have about other kit suppliers). They are very highly recommended over at AR15.com, which is where I was first turned on to them ~4 years ago. My first build has ~3K rounds through it and my second has ~1K, both without any problems.

Ok Ricshoe, everything is blocked here at work, any shows in the western SD area? Before I forget to check tonight.

Ha! I imagine I'd be a bit lost if I took a gun apart and had to put it back together without the instructions.
