India/Bollywood Heyy Babyy (India)

BBC:
Quote:
Comedy is the box office mantra this summer. So here comes Heyy Babyy, starring comic superstar Akshay Kumar with his partners-in-crime, Fardeen Khan and Riteish Deshmukh. They play a womanising trio who find themselves stuck in a whole heap of baby mess when they discover a child at their doorstep, complete with a letter claiming that one of them is its father. Inspired by Three Men And A Baby, this Bollywood laughathon should have you giggling like a toddler during a Teletubbies marathon.

For Arush (Kumar), Tanmay (Deshmukh) and Ali (Khan), life is all about the ladies. Seek and destroy is their motto (the seeking being the best part), so when a cute baby girl is thrust upon them, the adjustment is far from child's play. As they ponder which of them is the father, they unexpectedly discover the joys of parenthood and become insanely attached. When Isha (Vidya Balan) comes along, claiming to be the child's mother, the trio can't bear to give the baby up. Together the three newly-converted dads concoct a kindergarten-level plan to retrieve their daughter at all costs.

"CONVICTION OF THE CAST ULTIMATELY SWEETENS THIS DUMMY"

Sajid Khan's proves in his first major foray as a director, that he can make his audience both laugh and cry. And while Khan's script does for the most part hold up, it's the conviction of the cast and the fine balance between slapstick comedy and emotion that ultimately sweetens this dummy.

Default Vulgarity is NOT funny!

Hi,

I saw this film with my children and even though I am a fan of Akshay and Ritesh, I found a lot of the dialogue to be below standard. The scenes where they are making lists of all the women they've slept with were over done. I mean in this day of Aids/herpes I hope people are not so casual. Not to mention that these boys and many of their respective girlfriends are Indian, so there should be a cultural aspect to this too. Calling the baby a ***** was rude. Babies cry, poop and don't let you sleep but that's how they communicate. To leave her in the rain, was unbelievable. I don't think anyone with any conscience would do something like that. What I hated about this film: too many sexual innuendos and jokes, the Australian actors were annoying, The scenes where they try to win over Vidiya's character were so boring and not even funny. Vidiya should stick to films like Parineeta and Bhool Bhulaiya, she is wasting her talent in these cheesy films and she looks much better in a sari then in western gear.

thanks!
