Default Panny TH-42PZ85U vs Sammy PN42B450

Hi all,

Still searching for a new tv and still leaning towards my first plasma.

While I'm tempted to go 50", my room is a bit small so I'm leaning towards a 42". Price is, unfortunately, a primary consideration.

What I'm currently looking at:

1) Samsung PN42B450 - It's ~ $900. Love the look of the bezel, picture seems good as best as I can tell. Appearantly this years B models use better panels than last years?

2) Panasonic TH-42PZ85U - It's ~ $1300 (top end of price range for me). I'm assuming this is a 2008 model. Reviews seem pretty good.

Any thoughts or opinions?

Thanks

Edit: I guess I should note that I'm aware that the Samsung is not 1080P. I don't think that will really matter on a 42"?

My money is on the Panny. I like the Panny personally.

I'd go with the Panny too! And I feel 1080p makes a diff on 40" and above.

WHOA!! $1300 for a 2008 42" plasma?

$1000 s1:

http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-VIER...4478329&sr=8-2

$1100 G10:

http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-VIER...4478329&sr=8-1

If you snoop around, you can prob get a bit better price on either. if you're good with 720p, below is a FANTASTIC deal($599):

Unfortunately those prices don't apply to me living all the way up here in Canada. :P

No worries. I've got myself pretty well convinced to keep saving until I'm ready to get the set that I really want, instead of rushing out and compromising on something. Time will tell...

Well, the panny is better because those two are in different range/market/league etc. I'm sure the samsung is good, I can only tell that the panny is absolutely great because I own it and I'm very happy with it. Try to test them for yourself because although the panny is a higher end tv, the price difference is noticeable. I think that the comparable samsung is the 650

*Edit: I said the panny is better, I meant the panny is supposed to be better
