Default Conan O'Brian's New Backdrop Sure Looks Familiar…

Conan's new Tonight Show set sure is nice, but the guys at Serious Lunch noticed that his new monologue backdrop looks pretty familiar. As in Mushroom Kingdom familiar.

Chen and I are in disagreement as to whether or not this is intentional. I say it's a coincidence, but he's convinced that Mario was a definite inspiration for this background. What do you guys think?

I think the Mushroom Kingdom background has to have been modified to be so closley and accurately similar to the real back ground. But there definately looks to be some inspiration from the Super Mario World in any case.

Um, have you ever seen a Mario level that looks like that? Somebody combined a bunch of different levels to make it that way.

If you're working with simple squares, triangles and circles, it's not impossible that some can match up.

And how do we know Mario is the influence? Maybe whatever influenced Mario's level design influenced Conan's backdrop.

Is Conan fully back? Is he going slow?

Is he as good as he was? Is he being cautious with his schtick?

Of course, it's only 3 days. Richter seems lost. You mean every guy in the
band moved to L.A.? think about it . . . this is big . . .
