Default If You Could End 1 Genre...

...which would it be? Pick your least favorite genre that you wish game companies would stop focusing on.

Sports: Football, Basketball, Baseball, Golf, Hockey, etc.

FPS (First-Person Shooters): Call of Duty, Killzone, Doom...

3PS (Third-Person Shooter): Uncharted, Gears of War, Resident Evil 4+...

Fighting: UFC, Tekken, Fight Night, Soul Calibur, Street Fighter...

RTS (Real-Time Strategy): Starcraft, Halo Wars, Monsters...

J-RPG (Turn-Based): Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Persona...

J-RPG (Action): Star Ocean, Eternal Sonata, Tales of...

Action: God of War, Devil May Cry, InFamous, Grand Theft Auto...

Other: Well, put your own and let us know!

Also, explain why if you would

I don't really hate any one of those because I've played enough to know what I don't like but I love watching and playing real sports. But I don't like playing it in a videogame. I'd rather save pretending to be or do something for when I want to shoot someone or jump from a 60-story building and thunderdrop a bunch of bad guys dead. Not when I could go outside and toss the ol' pigskin or juke someone out of their mind.

Perhaps Real-Time Strategy games are a bore for such games, and so as Sports. I mean, we already can watch watch a baseball or basketball game, but why spend your day with your ass on the couch playing as Shaq?

Right now, music games. The quantity of game/track releases and press coverage is overwhelming. Track releases most definitely shouldn't be highlighted as front page news.

FPS is an easy pick for me. I can't play them without getting motion sickness, and I don't find them fun.

On the other hand, that would sure piss off quite a few people, so I'll pick a safer alternative and go with the "Wii games" genre. You know what kind of games I'm talking about here.

It's a toss up of sports and music. Both can go. Play sports for real and go learn a proper instrument.

After seeing a few of you mention Music games, I am leaning toward that.

It is not really a genre, but I want to vote for rushed movie tie in games. Rarely do we get a good movie tie in game. They are mostly kind of bad even when not rushed.

I love to play sports instead of video gaming them and love to jam on my real drums. But I also like to play fake ones to some music. There's nothing wrong with that and this argument above is so stupid. How abou this one: instead of playing COD, why don't you just go join the army?

Other also. Music games also. What a waste of time when you could be playing real instruments, composing your own songs.

J-RPG (Turn-Based) is currently the highest?...goes to show how mindless gamers have become. What about the market saturated FPS? Nothing equals that genres linear and rehashed gameplay. These FPS-gamers are also the ones that own a copy of Madden for each of the ten past years--money well spent.

What's it got to do with being mindless? Stop trying to stereotype.

You have to remember that the FPS genre is most suited to multiplayer.

By the way, I meant to write Someone with a god complex other than me in that last post, was intended to be entirely in jest, but didn't come across that way even to me.

Let's be realistic here, we need MORE fighting games if anything. It's still a dying genre.

Less FPS would be great.
