Default GordRocks Home Theater

MAJOR CHANGES HAVE BEEN PUT INTO THIS THEATER AS OF NOV. 15, 2009!
TO SEE THE CHANGES GO TO:

https://www.blu-ray.com/community/ga...mber=GordRocks

I'm not adding the new photos here as I'm just too busy to go to the trouble.

I spent nearly 3.5 years building the room and cabinetry for this theater. My budget is not as large as many others here but I take great pride as I did all of the work myself with a bit of input from LOML. Woodworking is one of my hobbies so I was able to do the work myself as time and money allowed it to be done.

Photography is NOT one of my strengths so please forgive the less than perfect photos.

I'm still figuring out how to edit this so to see the full size image you have to go to the Gallery and click on the image which will open a window where you can click on the photo to bring up the full size if you wish to see a bit larger version.

ROCKEFELLER THEATER ENTRANCE
The entrance to the theater. A buddy of mine made the sign above the doors; it's a private joke based on my last name. It's not Rockefeller!!!

THEATER SIGNS
New addition to the wall outside the theater entrance

LEFT REAR CABINETS
Upon entering the theater this is what is to the right of the door. The entrance door is not shown but it is to the right of the fridge.

A LOOK AT THE BACK WALL
A view of the back wall and the seating for six. The Roman blinds were made by my wife and hide the basement window that is behind them.

RIGHT REAR CORNER
The right rear corner of the theater. Have you caught on to the fact that I'm a Coke fan?

MORE OF THE RIGHT WALL
A few posters and music memorabilia. Yes, that's a treadmill on the right. The only thing it gets used for is keeping dust off the floor in that corner.

RIGHT WALL TOWARD THE FRONT
My sister found the Coke ads in a very old magazine.

ONE OF THE POSTER FRAMES - FRONT RIGHT
I built these frames so that they can be opened up to put larger posters in them. This poster is smaller than what the frame is designed to hold.

A LOOK AT THE FRONT WALL
Sorry, another case of poor photography!

RIGHT SIDE EQUIPMENT RACK

From the top:
Pioneer PD-F1007 CD Jukebox (holds 300)
Pioneer PD-F1007 CD Jukebox (holds 300)
Sony CDP-CX355 CD Jukebox (holds 300)
Sony CDP-CX355 CD Jukebox (holds 300)
Bang & Olufsen Beogram RX 2 Turntable

On the right is a Sony STR-DE197 receiver that is used as a power amp for a zone to play music upstairs and also in the garage/workshop.

TURNTABLE
I can't imagine not being able to play vinyl!!

LEFT SIDE EQUIPMENT RACK

From the top:
JVC XV-D721 DVD Player that I bought because I wanted to be able to play DVD-Audio discs. I've only got one so it might be considered a waste of money.
Sony DVP-CX995V DVD Jukebox (holds 400 DVDs)
Sony DVP-CX995V DVD Jukebox (holds 400 DVDs)
Panasonic DMP-BD55 Blu-Ray Player
Denon AVR-5308CI Receiver - this is new and I love it!!!
To the right is a pair of Sennheiser Wireless Headphones for my wife who has a lot of trouble hearing the dialog in movies. They help a lot!!

LEFT SIDE DOORS
Directly under the Denon Receiver: this shows most of the Jewel Cases for my CDs.
There is storage on the right side of the wall as well.

TELEVISION
Hitachi TW 65G80. A fairly old TV now but I'm amazed how good the picture is since I got the new receiver. I didn't know that the receiver could make such a huge difference. Needless to say, the picture is amazing with Blu-ray discs.
Can't wait to see what the picture will be like with a HD projector and screen. My plan is to install a motorized screen in front of the TV and get a 1080p projector, hopefully within the next year. I refuse to pay interest so it'll be awhile before I have the coin saved up.

ANOTHER POSTER FRAME
This poster is on the left wall just in front of the equipment wall.

PHILIPS PRONTO TSU-7000
One of the screens I designed for my Pronto. I LOVE this remote!!

PHILIPS PRONTO TSU-7000
Another of my screens.

COASTERS
The same friend who made the signs for the theater also made these acrylic coasters. The photo does not do them justice; they are beautiful!

SUBWOOFER
Energy S10.3 sub.

DVD STORAGE
The top two rows of drawers and two drawers in the third row hold my SD DVDs. The small stack of DVDs up top is the extent of my Blu-ray collection as I just got started.

SNACK DRAWERS
What good is a theater without snacks?

THE COKE FRIDGE!!!
I'll bet you've been wondering what is in that fridge - NOT!!!
SWMBO didn't like the original picture because it didn't have all the Coke cans displayed correctly.
OMG, how does she put up with me?

I hope you like it. It was a lot of work putting it together but LOML and I get many hours of pleasure in our theater and that's really all that matters. When the day comes that I can get the projector and screen or whatever other upgrades/improvements I will update this thread.
Thanks for looking,

.....Gord
