Question How come US is limited in steelbooks compared to Europe

So far i have seen all the steelbooks that made in USA are the James Bond series where as many blu ray steelbooks is from Germany, England, France, Italy. Why don't US produce more steelbooks such as The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Transformer...etc all the cool movies? Does anyone know? Maybe this is a stupid question , but i am very curious!

I hear it was a conspiracy and they needed all the steel here to make airplanes and warships

Thumbs up

Man, when I first thought of steelbooks, i thought US would have more steelbooks than any other countries. I was wrong then. I am moving to Canada or maybe France even better

Steelbooks are used as a marketing tool to make certain people take notice of movies they probably wouldn't otherwise look at.

If you look at the UK selection of movies, they are not exactly big hitters. 10000BC flopped (got a steel), Transporter 3 is so so (got a steel), Sweeney Todd is a musical (got a steel).

In the US they put steelbooks with the Bond franchise. They would have sold millions of copies with or without steelbooks. It was a bad marketing decision, especially since none of them were limited editions. In the UK, quite a few of the titles that got Steels were limited in numbers. The Bond steels didn't do badly because they are steels, they did badly because BB and the other stores over estimated demand of the blu's for them. The fact that they were steels as well, well that just screwed it up even more.

Eventually they will. At the price they are going for it will be most peoples first choices when buying a blu ray player.

I would buy Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace IF they have steelbooks in the US. I will pay whatever it costs, even 100 bucks for owning a Casino Royale in steels!

hold on, Ill mold ya one....I believe SteelBooks are a retail gimmick/exclusive and not up to the studios.....I actually discussed with another person about doing a exclusive title, Only problem was the cost and Qty you needed to buy. I cant move 4000 copies personally

theres a few threads like this.... two on the first page

but heres my comment from another thread

Quote:
i actually think its a mixture of issues 1. there are a lot of companies/studios competeing for sales in what is really a small area such as Europe and
2. because they actually have the market for these steelbooks in other countries people in the states just want to buy for as cheap as they can so there's not much incentive to release limited editions or steelbooks here

certainly you'll see SB's/limited editions during christmas because people are more inclined to spend the extra few dollars, but not throughout the year.
