Couple issues...when everything is working fine, I'm in heaven.
The problems I'm having are... My BD player...if I stop it and leave it stopped overnight and resume, I lose sound....basically I have to power everything down, unplug the BD player and re-power everything up. This may be a Java issue with the BD player and not the receiver....maybe.... My TV tuner box...I have to turn everything on in this order... Denon TV box (it has to be NON POWERED not just off) I get Dolby 5.1 surround - the way it should be If I watch a BD movie and then switch over to the TV, it's 7ch stereo...if I don't powerup everything from a non-powered starting point IN THE CORRECT ORDER (Receiver FIRST) then receiver goes to 7ch stereo and NOT, as it should be, the Dolby 5.1 Really confused why this is happening. Why doesn't it automatically go to the right sound mode instead of having to send it a "fresh" signal from a newly powered source. It's like it needs to "clear" the signal and get something fresh, otherwise it goes to the crappy 7ch sound. Confused. ![]() |

TV box is connected to my receiver via HDMI and optical (the optical cable is necessary for Dolby 5.1...for w/e reason it doesn't translate the multi channel digital sound through the HDMI port)
I could return the unit to Denon, but I do not think it is defective. There's something I'm missing here...just not sure what it is. |

Hi Blujacket and thanks
I tried those settings. Powered down, unplugged the HDMIs and did a fresh restart with the Denon powered on first and everything after that. The Denon reverted to 7ch stereo and I lost the sub. I do have the input settings for the TV/CBL to HDMI and Optical so it knows to look for signals from both. I'm also constantly losing sound from my Pioneer BD player. To get it back I have to do the same complicated turn off/turn on routine, unplug the damn thing, etc. although I'm installing the new firmware right now. I'll email Denon my settings. I'm sure there is one wrong but I'll be damned if I can figure out where it is. |
