My in-laws love their Garmins. They have two -- one for their vehicle(s) and another hardwired into their Honda Goldwing Trike.

Not sure what models they have but they each have about a 4-6 inch screen. Based on what their fellow biker friends say, stay away from Tom Toms. Not as reliable as the Garmins.

I've got a Garmin my dad gave me and it's great. Takes about 1-2 minutes to aquire the satellites but once done your'e on your way!

He got it for less than $100 bucks and it was eligible for a free map upgrade.

GPS's are like any other electronic, you get what you pay for. Garmin's and Tom Tom would be your best bet. Good luck.

I'm in the market for one as well. Where's a good place to buy from?

I would recommend Garmin over Tom Tom. They're both very easy to use, but on the Tom Tom I've used, even after a map upgrade, I was given very odd routes to destinations in my hometown that I already knew the best route for. I liked to test it from time to time.

Two weeks ago, I bought the entry-level Garmin model for my girlfriend for only $99 at BB. That wasn't a sale price. The same model goes for $120 at Wal-Mart.

Not sure of the model I have by my dad paid $59 on Black Friday for it.

Just goto any Target/Bestbuy/Walmart and buy the cheapest one that fits your needs.

Even though mine was pretty cheap I still can look up food and lodging and all that stuff. Worked perfectly on my trip from LA to Las Vegas without a hitch.

It depends on what you need. There are some basic GPSīs on the market that do the job.
I have a Garmin Zumo 550. Itīs a great GPS for use in cars and/or motorcycles. Itīs waterproof, and with a lot of useful extras, like bluetooth conectivity, MP3 and a lot more.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 260W (widescreen) and it works perfectly fine for me-just directions and maybe the resturant locator. I think we got it for a little over a $100 at Christmans time last year. Hope this helps.

For UK driving, I'd say Tom Tom - they seem to have good updates on all the speed cameras
