Thumbs up Official Cigar Smokers Thread

I'd like to make this thread so we can share our favorite cigars and also make suggestions as to where to go to buy and smoke them.

-Cigars I would recommend-

Oliva V series (Belicoso, Double Robusto, Torpedo)
Drew Estate Liga Pravada No. 9
Graycliff- Almost all lines of their cigars are good
Diamond Crown Maximus
Casa Magna (Got cigar aficionado's #1 2008)

-Good Cigar Shop in Orange County-

Maxamars in Orange. - Bar none the best selection and a nice place to sit down and smoke.

I love to have a cigar before dinner. It makes food taste better. Well, I like to have a cigar pretty much anytime now that I think about it.
Let us know your favorites!

I don't smoke cigars that often but have smoked a few here and then when I was overseas (London, Paris, Germany) and they have some great cigars and some great bars to smoke them in.

If their is one reason I'm glad we haven't taken over Canada yet, it is because If we did, I wouldn't have been able to enjoy some awesome cigars there!

I usually smoke a cigar out in the garage every now and then. I have a small humidor with about 20 er so. I had some extremely fresh ones in Jamaica on a cruise a few years ago, guy was rolling them right in the shop. Those were good.

I'll typically have one if I'm out hunting antelope and take one out as a victory cigar or just if I'm relaxing having a cool one.

Not the ones of those made in Cuba. I can only get the ones of those brands that are rolled in Dom. Rep. or Nicaragua, etc.. They are generally worse than their Cuban counterparts. Not that they make bad cigars out here. The Cohiba puro dominican

Hey, ME TOO!

Pre 9/11 when we lived in Grand Forks, we would drive to Winnipeg for a weeken and pick up some Cubans. Lived to far away after that, and would not chance it now.

In May, I smoked my last of a box of CAO's I bought in 2004. A business partner gave me a few 858's that are in the humidor now, and I will be getting some Barrel aged La Auroras, some Hoyo de Tradicions, La Flor Dominicanas and Cubaos. All full flavored, full bodied smokes that are well-rated. Trouble up here is finding the weather to be suitable for smoking. In Birmingham (AL) it was almost always right. A nice warm, humid evening makes them burn nicely. Here it's too cool, too dry and too windy.

The best smoke I ever had was in New Orleans, after dark on a pier or dock over the Mississippi near the French Quarter. I don't recall the cigar, but it was a fun night. I was on someone elses tab at forensic science meeting.

If it's not a hand rolled Cuban...it's just not a cigar (IMO).

But the problem with Cubans is that the quality of the build suffers, largely because of the Marxist utopian society they are constructed in. While I will not argue that there is something about the soil and climate on that island that produces the finest tobacco on Earth, the consistency of quality of construction of many of the cigars from there is erratic at best. An even, slow burn and comfortable draw are equally important as flavor and body in the smoking experience. There are some fine cigars of with Dominican innards and American wraps that are on par, although very expensive.

I went to an event where the makers of ACID (Drew Estate) were promoting their new cigar Liga Pravada #9.

I recommend it. I also got a cool hat.
