Default What do you keep your movie collection in?

I cant find a big enough cabinet for my movie collection....the only ones are online and like 300 bucks. I saw a locking one that was cool but it was expensive and I dont like ordering furniture from online. Target has this brown leather file system that you put the artwork and dvds in sleeves and these bins hold them all.....do you think the discs would get scratched in the sleeves? Then I still have to put all the empty cases somewhere.....any ideas or pics?

I got my cabinets from Target, they're actually buildable pantries. They cost $30 for the small ones and $50 for the big ones but they're worth it. The big ones hold 180 +/- each and the little ones hold about 120 each.

I use a regular dvd holder. It's made out of wood and proabably holds about 300 blu's.

I have two of these, one for my BRs, and another for my DVDs.

Holds 184 BRs or 144 DVDs. Spins around - $45 at Best Buy.

Yes.

I just use regular book cases. 56 disks a shelf, 7 shelves, 392 films. Can only see the spins, but I do not care.

Mine are all over the room, covering the walls mostly. (see gallery). Once my daughter knocked over those triple dvd towers and they covered the floor, too. The racks along the wall work fine for both DVDs and BDs.

Guess it costs a bit more online?
For some reason I couldn't find a link for the smaller one, all I know is I can find them easily at Target in between the pet section and the hardware section.

Nice to see those pictures of peoples Blu-Ray collection. It's also nice to see that I'm not the only one that has a huge collection of Blu-Rays now. Cant get over how many that I have now.
Yeah I have my Blu-Rays in a video cabnet that I bought from a Suncoast store a few years back. Its almos full now.So I just bought another DVD shelf from Big Lots a few weeks ago.So I will soon be filling that up as well.

It's now back in my house, and has two shelves filled with Blu's. (And the door panels changed to black)

The lights really make it work well for displaying the blu's.

I just looked at those today I was wondering if they had enough shelves to space the blurays properly? they only come with 3 shelves right? do you double stack the cases?

I could doublestack the cases but then it would be a pain in the ass to get the ones actually ON the shelf off due to the movies on top of it. Yeah, way more than enough room, sometimes I stack other stuff on top of the blus, like popcorn or trilogy cases and stuff.

I just use a couple of those wire rack towers you find at Wm, and other places for maybe $15.00 each.

Those unit sizes are pretty standard, you could probably find some extra shelves in various colors at Home Depot or Lowe's.

(You will need the little metal thingies to hold up the extra shelves as well- hardware section)

Me being a moderator has nothing to do with it

but yeah..... it's not "Ideal" I just don't have shelves capable of holding all of the movies...... I want to get some wire-racks from an old video store, and spray paint them black..... (I had a storage room off of the media room, but the wife took it over with winter clothes and other junk )

I need to get around to either getting the wire racks, or making something...... I really don't want to buy four or five of the shelving systems that hold 400 movies each, and then just line them up.... I'd rather have one big shelving system, even if that means a generic wire rack one.....

I need to figure out some way to add lighting to the area I have my movies in also..... it gets hard to find the ones I'm looking for (I usually find something else to watch while looking for the movie I originally intended on watching )
