Why would anyone want to go back to infra-red when there is Bluetooth? It takes a little getting used too bump the remote when it gets lost in the chair and the PS3 starts some weird operatio, but not having to be in perfect line of sight is fantastic - I wish, all remotes would go bluetooth, with one extra function, press a button on the PS3 or Amp etc anf the remote will beep, as there is already bi-directional communication it wouldn't be that hard.

Yup, I totally agree w/you! I have been wishing for a beeping remote for years! I'm constantly on a remote control search. I wish I could tether them to my body!!!!
I also agree with the IR. I love bluetooth. I wish more companies would either use bluetooth or the older radio style remotes. I had dishnetwork at one time, and they gave me a radio/IR hybrid remote. I loved it. Bluetooth is the way to go for remotes!!!!

Some people are looking to IR solutions so they can use their 'harmony' or all-in-one remotes.

True. But once I went bluetooth I don't want to go back to IR. I hate my IR now...what a PITA in comparison. I'd like something that can plug-in to the IR on my Anthem so I can use bluetooth with it.

There was a similar discussion in another post somewhere on here, can't remember, where I suggested that someone develop a bluetooth/IR hybrid remote. That would be a killer remote. We could use it for all of our old devices and the PS3. Hopefully someone will make one soon!

Check off another thing that people said a PS3 couldn't do.

I know what you mean. Everytime any button get pressed on my PS3 remote, it turns it on. And then you can't shut it off right away. I hate it. I don't know how many times my girlfriend's dog has stepped on the remote and turned it on

This alone will probably sell ps3's to those people who don't want a game system because of the previous IR caveats. The ps3 just keeps proving to be a better and better blu-ray player all the time. They get that 1.3 HDMI streaming going and it's over!

This is nothing but a replication of the buttons on the SIXAXIS. It does not have proper transport controls, time, menu and display buttons, etc.

Time and display can be accessed by an onscreen menu by pressing either the square or triangle-- can't remember which and I'm at work right now.

Dopey me! It does have dedicated transport, Display and Top Menu buttons. There's still no PS button, though.
