Default Sony STR-DG820 Problem on setup

Well I finally took the plunge and bought a receiver and speakers all on the same day but now I have a problem I plugged everything into the receiver including my cable box and my ps3 via hdmi and then used hdmi out on the receiver to the television. I can get cable signal but ps3 nothing shows up no audio no video I've tried turning the cable box off and just running hdmi input and also moving channels but I also can't seem to get the 820 menu to show up either. I don't think I have a bad receiver but can anyone point me in a direction?

Have you gone into the PS3s menu and changed the Audio Out and Video Out to HDMI?

ya i had the same prob when i bought the 820 two months ago

u have to either turn it on or off and hold the power button till it beeps. i cant remember if it was on or off. well if it was the later (off), then turn it back on normally. can't remember exactly, but i remember the whole press and hold the power button thing.

sorry cant explain it better lol. but i KNOW pressing and holding the power key is the key here =P

hope u enjoy the 820 ........ i am so far

have you tried switching HDMI inputs to see if you have a bad HDMI port?

Otherwise, perhaps call Sony CS, they SHOULD be able to help...

Is the PS3 plugged into the BD HDMI input? And, has that input been properly assigned?

I know you said you've always used the PS3 through HDMI, but did the player maybe reset itself if it was unplugged when you switched everything around?
