Eli Roth Presents The Last Exorcism Teaser Poster

Lionsgate and producer Eli Roth gives you “The Last Exorcism”, about a Reverend who realizes, much to his dismay, that the exorcism he’s about to perform while a documentary crew films it is actually the real deal. Not a good thing if you’re the Rev, who has been conning people out of their hardearned chickens doing fake exorcisms all these years. When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine “exorcism” on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy.

Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers with their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a confessionary documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon arriving at the already blood drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus’ own beliefs are shaken to the core when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell – and themselves – before it is too late.

THE LAST EXORCISM is written by Huck Botko & Andrew Gurland and directed by Daniel Stamm. Strike Entertainment and STUDIOCANAL present an Arcade Pictures production.

No, not at all.

I think the premise is interesting and I'm actually a fan of handheld if it's done right (i.e. Blair Witch and Cloverfield), but the fact that it's a Roth film immediately withdraws any excitement I would've had.

Don't write him off just yet, yes he is as pompous as Tarantino but I can detect some potential.

I still think it's funny that the making of Hostel had more gore than the actual movie did.

Honestly, I see no potential at all. I really don't. Torture porn doesn't equate to potential in my book. The only hope is that Roth isn't directing it. Even Tarantino struck gold "producing" Hero.

The hope is that this movie is more than that due to its intriguing premise and the fact that Roth is merely a producer.

You do realize he's done more than "torture porn" ( I prefer the term horror movies) right?
