The release of Blade looks to be a Canadian release, and a reviewer from Amazon.com said this about the release:

I didn't buy this... luckily, THIS TIME, Amazon put enough details in the product info section that I know this one is a Canadian Release..... and if you're familiar with Blu-Ray Releases... anything released in Canada (but not yet in the US), comes with absolutely NO Bonus Features (not even the ones contained on the regular DVD). Audio options are limited & generally the best you get is 5.1 Dolby or DTS (no PCM or HD audio options)... and so on. Not to mention the fact, that when Blade (1) is Finally released in the US, it'll no doubt come in a Box Set w/ both Sequals ---- so why be stuck with a worthless & inferior Canadian release, which you wont be able to sell for over $5 once the US version is scheduled for release?

PS: Other Blu-Ray (Canadian only) releases you should know about (since Amazon doesn't tell you): Seven (Se7en), Thirteen Ghosts, From Dusk 'Til Dawn, and others that escape me at the present time. Some I'm not sure about; but am pretty sure are the same way: The Thirteenth Floor, Requiem for a Dream... if anyone knows for sure, please post a comment onto this review.

At any rate, just be patient... a US release will come within a year. Until then, Blade 1, 2 & 3, all look just fine through "HD/1080p Upscaling" (by viewing on upscaling dvd player, or on PS3, etc.).

Skip it! It has been cropped from a aspect ratio of 2.25 to a new crappy (zoomed in) 1.78

Possibly my favorite action movie and definitely my favorite comic book movie of all time. Hands down a guilty pleasure. I would love to see this get a good Blu treatment, but I can't imagine La Magra looking too great in HD...just makes the CGI look horrible.

Don't care so much for a box set, as I will gladly pass on the third one.

This set would be nice. Watched all 3 of them last weekend on standard dvd. Don't care much for the 3rd but will get them at some point when they go blu.

Just received my copies today. You have to keep in mind that this is an Alliance release. It's like hit or miss with them.Sin City was excellent.Se7en on the other hand was a "miss"
The aspect ratio of this Blu Ray is 1.78:1
Also keep in mind this film is now more than 10 years old.I also just browsed thru several chapters without seeing it entirely.
Drum roll.......AWESOME!!! The picture was very clean with a pristine transfer.Sharpness at times stacks up with the best of them in todays Blu Rays.No edge enhancement. That actually surprised me.Black levels were deep as showcased in the opening "club" scene.Bitrates ranged around close to 30mps at times.
The sound;everyone remembers the reference quality from the "old" dvd release. The DTS Master Audio does not disappoint!!! Bitrates easily average around 5mps.
Can't wait to be able to finally watch BLADE on BLU....

we tested the blu version compared to the dvd version of blade... the dvd sound had alot more punch when it came to the action sequences and the music!!! the PQ was clear and all that good stuff but we will still have to repurchase this when its released here in the U.S. because it was not top of the line on he PQ & AQ!!!!!

That reviewer is dead wrong about the audio options. Bad misinformation. I own 6 Canadian exclusive releases and every one is DTS-HD MA.

it may be DTS-HD MA. doesn't make it any good... which its not...

you'll see when you get the film yourself. we'll be purchasing it again when its available in the U.S.
