Default Fraility - Movie Appreciation Thread

Last night, I pulled out one of my first dvds in my collection and watched Fraility. Hard to believe that this movie is almost 10 years old.

This movie just impresses on so many levels. The storyline is very scary. Dad believes he received a message from God to kill the demons on earth. The catch is that these demons look and act like real people. Is dad freaking nuts and murdering people or is it really a divine mission?

The story is told through the eyes of his older son who believes dad is crazy. Matt O Leary gives a powerful performance as the son. You really get a feel for his emotions and can understand how children can feel so helpless in situations like this. It is a shame that he hasn't done anything major since this movie. Such a great actor. Bill Paxton also phones in an amazing performance of just a regular dad who loves his kids, but is frightenly cold when it comes to doing God's work.

The scene where dad brings home his first demon drapped over the shoulder is classic and Paxton describes it as the first hill on the rollercoaster.

I also love Fraility for all the attention to detail. The lighting effect when dad finds Otis in the barn. Wild Kingdom on the tv. The boys talking about going to see Meatballs. The kids talking about Daisy Duke and wrapping houses. Man, that sounded just like me back in 1979. Really adds a sense of realism to the movie. Also, the movie is set in East Texas where I grew up so that was pretty cool.

Fraility remains one of my all time favorite horror films, and a perfect choice for people that don't like to see a lot of blood and guts.

Note: A freaky concidence - a few years later in Tyler Texas, a woman brained her kids to death believing they were demons. Fraility is set in the same region.

Great movie. One of my favorites, which I've yet to upgrade to Blu-ray.

I recently watched this for the first time a month or two ago and loved it as well. I plan to add it to my collection also. I remember seeing it at Walmart for 8.00 a few months back but I didnt grab it because I had never seen. Then I watched it on my DVR in HD on Directv and now I want to add it but I didnt see it at Walmart recently so Ill have to wait. Very good movie though. Got Em!!

Since I loaned my DVD copy to someone a few years back and they apparently liked it so much they kept it, I need to buy the blu. It's been way to long since I watched it. Great flick.

I'm the parent of two toddlers; she may have been on to something.

FRAILTY rocks and it rocks hard. Ballsy ending!
