Default Marvelous Publishing New PS3 Game [UPDATED]

UPDATED ARTICLE:
Quote:
Update: Marvelous has requested an article update.

When Yasuhiro Wada, President of Marvelous, said “If we do that [game] we might go bankrupt,” he was saying that as if we were to create a PS3 game with Grasshopper now we might go bankrupt.

The title in the second quote, “We are making it, but if we make everything then it’s a little too risky.” Is not referring to a Grasshopper developed game. Wada-san was saying they are working on a PS3 title, not a Grasshopper game, just a PlayStation 3 title.

I asked to clarify if the game was Rainy Woods, which was previously announced as a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title. Marvelous is working on Rainy Woods, but that was not the title Wada-san was thinking of during the interview.

I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE:
Quote:
Punk game developer Grasshopper Manufacture has a tight relationship with Marvelous. Beyond No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle the two companies have plans for at least one more title.

I asked Yasuhiro Wada, President of Marvelous Interactive, how their PS3 game with Grasshopper Manufacture was progressing.

“If we do that [game] we might go bankrupt,” Wada joked. He laughed and continued, “We are making it, but if we make everything then it’s a little too risky.” Wada discussed taking chances on risky titles during the interview.

“Because it’s secret we can’t really go into details here”, Wada concluded. I’ll leave it to you to speculate about the ever morphing project.

Grasshopper's new PS3 game could make publisher 'bankrupt'
12 minutes ago - 10:00 AM on 06.17.2009, Jim Sterling 2 comments

Grasshopper is not a studio known for its mainstream smash hit success. The cult developer, responsible for such demented games as No More Heroes and Killer 7, is working on a brand new PS3 title and, true to form, it's a financial risk. So much so that publisher Marvelous is a tiny bit worried.

"If we do that [game] we might go bankrupt," laughs Marvelous president Yasuhiro Wada. "We are making it, but if we make everything then it's a little too risky. Because it's secret we can't really go into details."

A new game from Suda 51's studio is always fine by me, and no matter how risky it is, Marvelous can at least count on my custom. Nobody knows what this risky new PS3 game will be, but if it's anything like Grasshopper's previous efforts, it'll be the worst and best experience we've had in a long while. Can't wait to find out more!

Strange but not surprising that gaming media is headlining with a joke that's far less important than informing people they're making a PS3 game to begin with.

Yes, repetitive but unlike anything else released at the time, the baffling story, characters and yummy style made it worth playing through to the end. And that "Rave On" track when you run down the stair corridor... ohhh.

Shame Grasshopper aren't developing this mystery title.

I nominate this ps3 game as "Most Mysterious Game of the Moment"
all we know is that if they made it the way they want, it would financially destroy the company and let out upon the world the seven horsemen...

Game announcement with a vague promising of going out of business if made, I like that....

its like announcing a new game with the notion you caused a dev kit to smoke, not saying the game makes the dev kit smoke, but merely that you stress tested the dev kit to find its breaking point.
