Default Hp Hdx 18

Well...I'm in the market for a new laptop for college. The one I have is pretty outdated and the dvd drive is shot from all the dvd's I used to burn.

I ran across the HDX series. It's very large and intimidating. Might be a little big for lugging around. It's basically a replacement for a desktop. The 18.4" screen is very attractive. I customized it with a dual quad core/4 gigs of ram and of course a blu-ray burner..

I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this particular laptop.

For those of you who are not familiar with it.

ive never used the 18" version but ive played around with the 16" one quite a bit, like it, if i didnt have my dell XPS m1530 the HDX 16" would have been next on the list.

Get the 16 if u dont want it to be quite so bulky?

16 doesn't have a quad core option... I wish they had a 17" option.

what are you going to be using it for?

cause to be honest since the quad is lower clocked unless the app in question is multithreaded the dual will be be faster

Huh..I didn't think of that. I'll be using it for a little bit of everything. I'm not a heavy gamer. I'm mostly a console guy. I just wanted a fast processor ..

2.66GHz dual core vs 2.0GHz quad, big clockspeed difference there unless u spend big bucks on a high end quad
