Default The Star Wars Blu(e)s

Just curious...with the "double-dip" precedent that has already been established with Star Wars on VHS and DVD, how many different versions of Star Wars do you think will be released on Blu?

I'm thinking:

1.) Original Trilogy set
2.) Original Trilogy (Special Editions) set
3.) Original Trilogy movies sold individually
4.) Prequel Trilogy set
5.) Prequel Trilogy movies sold individually
6.) and possibly (this is a long shot, here) a box set of all 6 films

Thoughts????

I don't care, as long as they GET released on Blu-Ray. Preferably on discs that combine the theatrical and "new" versions through seamless branching (but we know Lucas won't be giving us that.)

sad but true. with the release of the prequels and the ability to do what he had initially intended with the original trilogy, the special editions are lucas' preferred version and he has made clear it is the only one that will be released from this point on.

Whatever happens we probably won't have to worry about it for some time to come. If you recall, George Lucas took 7 years to release the Original Trilogy on DVD. He will wait until Blu-ray is in enough homes to justify a release on this new format, and that could take several more years at least.

Lucas is a wealthy man, he can afford to wait.

haha i bought those too (but not two ), since i figured it would be the last time the originals were released...they look pretty bad since they haven't really been remastered, but i'll take what i can get. at least they'll hold up better than the vhs copies.

yep, i have both sets of VHS too, but the DVD copies wont wear out. I keep my boys out of my movies, but you can never be too careful. That's why they are on the 'top shelf' ...... risk mitigation.

Yeah....I'm hoping for the unaltered originals, but "I have a bad feeling about this"....I bet we're going to be stuck with the Special Editions. It could be worse, though....Lucas could decide to add/change even more stuff for a new "Super-Special Edition" trilogy on Blu, which would feature the back-story of Greedo's hard life on the streets leading up to his now infamous firing first scene.

i mean, again, lucas has publicly stated he won't release the originals ever again. i really hope he chooses to with the blus, but it seems very, very, very unlikely

As long as he replaces the abomination that was the Yoda puppet in Episode 1. He just looks wrong.
